In the spirit of truly trying to understand, not to argue…I was curious how this was followed up on in the courts. From what little I know from gun safety classes, and the classes required to get a carry permit, it is illegal to shoot a fleeing assailant in the back…or a fleeing assailant period. Just from observing the video and the number of times this man shot, his aim was not so hot and he potentially was placing others in the room in more danger. Were these guys actually shot in the backs? I don’t want to hear arguments of why this was ok, I’m just wondering based on the letter of the law not the sentiment behind it…cuz the letter is sorta what we have to deal with.
Not sure the old man WAS trying to hit the assailant – just frighten him off. Of course I could be wrong. The deterrant is the FACT that he had a gun and could end the assailant’s life from a distance. He likely wouldn’t be able to take on a younger man in his advanced years without a firearm. I also think the point is there may have been no assailant to begin with if it were known that everyone in the joint had guns. Thanks for commenting. Hugs G
Yep, the solution is to arm more citizens, not ban guns. The more law abiding citizens that carry guns, the less the criminals will be able to perpetrate these crimes. If only 1 person in that theatre had had a gun on them, they could have stopped the gunman.
