Friday evening’s Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse is an exciting one, the last of three eclipses in this early spring time frame, taking place just a few days following the most recent installment of the perfect square between Uranus and Pluto in Cardinal signs, and strongly highlighting as well both Saturn and Neptune in close trine with each other. All four outer planets including Saturn are therefore very much emphasized at this time. Those born with sensitive points in their natal chart at around 4-12 degrees of any sign are most directly affected, as one or more of these powerhouse planets will likely square, conjunct or oppose such placements. As far as Sun Sign, this means everyone born within a few days of the first of the month, either at nearly the end or in the first few days of his or her birth month. Pretty much everyone will feel the intensity to some extent as we head into another summer of Uranus-Pluto, the hallmark in fact of this entire decade that I like to call the “Turbulent Teens.”
All four of these planetary archetypes connote the difficult acceptance of a process of radical change, although from different angles. Saturn, the farthest planet actually visible without instrumentation and the only one known to the ancients, works upon you by a process of extreme limitation. You see clearly where your responsibility lies, and there is no escape. This seems dire, but certainly at times circumstances do conspire to inform us that there is one path for us to take, one way out, and although not necessarily pleasant it will be the road with the long-term reward of lessons learned and wisdom regained for the next stage of our journey.
Is the credibility of the Scottish Catholic Church in question? One day after facing accusations of sexual abuse, Cardinal Keith O’Brien of Great Britian has announced that he will be stepping down ahead of schedule and will not be participating in the vote for the next pope. From The Telegraph.
Let’s spell this out bluntly. The most senior Catholic cleric in Britain, Cardinal Keith O’Brien of St Andrews and Edinburgh, has been forced to resign ahead of schedule following allegations that he made homosexual advances to younger clergy in his diocese – and isn’t now expected to attend the conclave to elect the next Pope. There will now be no Briton in the Sistine Chapel when voting takes place. O’Brien’s early resignation is believed to have been at the personal insistence of Benedict XVI, in one of his last acts as Pope.
Friday morning’s Full Moon is quite intense, mainly because it triggers the Uranus-Pluto square in Aries-Capricorn, just as these two heavyweight outer planets get ready to collide yet again in another exact hit come mid-September. The last era they were in such close connection was their recent conjunction of the mid-1960′s and we are seeing the same types of rebellion against a dysfunctional establishment that we saw back then, even to the music and the mini-skirts. This will be the second of seven exact square alignments stretching out to 2015, by then in the 16th degree of their respective Cardinal signs. As every reader of this blog knows by now, the radical transformation symbolized by this “World Transit” lasts until 2020 and will come to characterize this entire decade, which I like to call the Turbulent Teens.
The First Quarter Moon that comes along in the evening of Tuesday, June 26th, is an important one. Coming as it does mid-way in the first half of the lunation cycle, leading up to the Full Moon, this moment of tension is always interesting. Now, however, the Sun – newly in Cancer – together with the Moon in square to it, make a Grand Cross in Cardinal signs with Uranus and Pluto just as the square between these two outer planets perfects. This day, rather than the recent date of their exact, Sunday the 24th, is therefore the strongest moment of the period surrounding this configuration’s initial contact, presaging a dicey time of revolutionary change coming down, and intense adjustment to the recognition of the radical depth of that transformation.
Of course, this aspect between Uranus and Pluto is far from over, with six more exact hits over the next few years, and with an influence lasting right through to the end of the decade. We are in the soup, no two ways about it, and do well to remain as conscious as possible regarding the extended period of this transition, both individually and collectively. We likely will be hard-pressed to recognize either ourselves or our cultural matrix by the time that the 2020 mark is actually reached, so major is the societal transformation that the world and particularly America is entering into as we step through the doorway of this climactic year. As we cross this threshold we might remember to watch and weigh everything that happens with the utmost attention, reserving judgment as far as that is possible, and holding onto our faith in the essential benevolence of the cosmos to guide us through. The spiritual evolution that is here unfolding has a cutting back effect on whatever is not working in our society and in ourselves and – let’s face it – there is much that needs to be pruned away.
Today, June 24th we are experiencing for the first time in recorded history an exact Cardinal Square between Pluto and Uranus. This is a very powerful day. We first started to experience the Cardinal square back in the spring of 2010. Since then, we have gone through a lot of changes and transformations in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Most all the changes have been for the good in the long run.
So what is so different about this exact square? Since this square first formed in 2010 it has never been exact by degree and minute. Today this square for the first time in recorded history is exact by degree and minute in Cardinal energy. Pluto in Capricorn is at 8 degrees of Capricorn and 23 minutes, and Uranus in Aries is at 8 degrees and 23 minutes. One continuous flow of changeable, transformative, and urgent energy! These 2 planets have been wreaking havoc, causing disruptions, changes, and rebellions for the last couple of years, both in the world, and in our personal lives. Now the energy is stronger!!
The Cardinal Square consists of Uranus in Aries squared by Pluto. Uranus (the constant of change, thinking outside the box and into the future, with a focus on community and humanity), is in Aries (the warrior, the initiator, the winner, ego). Uranus in Aries is saying we need to change and think outside the box and into the future. We need to focus on community/humanity. We need to move from “Me” to “We.” Uranus in Aries is being squared by Pluto, the planet of transformation. Pluto only cares about the transformation of your soul and the soul of the Earth. Pluto does not care about ego, what kind of car you drive etc. It only cares about your soul. It demands integrity and respect for all. Pluto is in Capricorn (which rules Corporate America, the Government, the Banks and the Military). These planets are in Cardinal signs – cardinal energy – which means birthing of new, urgency, and change!
