Anthony Gucciardi ~ Worldwide ‘March Against Monsanto’ Protests Planned for May 25th

Natural Society May 9 2013

Countless individuals will soon assemble in small and large groups around the nation and the globe alike in protest against Monsanto’s genetic manipulation of the food supply. Organized under the May 25th movement known as the ‘March on Monsanto’, the massive new rally reveals how the grassroots public has truly had enough of Monsanto’s monopoly on the many staple crops that have quickly been sucked into Monsanto’s genetically modified tycoon.

It’s virtually impossible these days to enter a grocery store, even one bearing the title of ‘natural’, and not encounter at least a few items that contain genetically modified ingredients. And for quite some time, this fact was not even known to the large majority of the United States public. Many simply did not even know what a GMO was, or what it could potentially do to their bodies (or the bodies of the children who they were feeding with genetically engineered processed food).

This, of course, stems from the fact that the FDA and Monsanto have decided that you aren’t allowed to know if your food contains GMOs. Even despite the fact that peer-reviewed research has pegged Monsanto’s best selling herbicide Roundup (which is a key part of Monsanto’s Roundup-ready GMO crops) to around 37 associated diseases, the FDA says it’s perfectly safe. So safe that it’s not even necessary to label in your food. So very safe that the only study that ever examined how Roundup and GMOs affect rats throughout their lifetime found that the rats developed tumors so large that it impacted their very ability to move.

Anthony Gucciardi ~ Warning: Major Supplements Openly Contain GMO Vitamin

Natural Society March 8 2013

Genetically modified organisms have permeated much of the crop industry, absolutely infesting the processed food market, but are many ‘health’ supplements free from the presence of GMOs? As it turns out, major supplement producers actually will openly admit that they derive many of their formulas from GMO crops — consumers just aren’t really paying attention!

If you know much about Monsanto or the prevalence of GMOs, you are likely aware that a large majority of corn (about 80-95% of the entire crop in the US, if not more, depending on what research you follow) is genetically modified. Being responsible for 90% of the US GM seed market, Monsanto has done its very best to create a genetically altered monopoly on the food supply. This is where the supplement factor comes in.

As you may or may not be aware, wildly popular substances like vitamin C are usually extracted from corn — one of the leading GMO crops in the US. It is from this that the question immediately comes into focus: could supplement makers be using GMO corn to create vitamin C supplements? What about the countless other formulas that can extract from GM foods as a source. And when you consider GMO-containing ‘food’ can legally be labeled as ‘natural’ under current regulations, what ‘natural’ supplements could be based on Monsanto’s GMO crops?

As it turns out, this is indeed the case. While it is impossible to compile a full list without a large amount of financial investment for testing every brand, what we do know is that major producers have explained how they usually will list ‘Non-GMO’ on their GMO-free options. In other words, chances are vitamin C may be extracted from GMO corn unless it is stated to be organic, non-GMO, or specifically not extracted from a non-GMO source. In reality, many reputable supplement companies have already begun listing their high quality products with the ‘GMO-free’ label and other quality re-assurances.

Activist Post February 5 2013

If there’s only one more documentary you see in the remainder of your life: Make sure it’s Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives. World renown genetically modified organism (GMO) expert Jefferey Smith, who heads The Institute for Responsible Technology, directed and wrote the film that won Solari Best Film of the Year, 2012 and most recently Aware Guide’s Top Transformational film of 2012.

If you’ve been following GMO news for years, you are still sure to learn new, shocking information in this recent release. What’s unique is that even if you’ve never heard of a GMO, the movie is easy to digest without losing its informed audience.Watch it free here until Feb 10 and definitely read and share the following review with your loved ones:

Is Genetic Roulette a downer? According to Aware Guide founder, a top transformational film would ”inspire the movement of society towards ideals, values and practices that create a better world for everyone. They focus on solutions, not problems for issues such as: Consciousness, Environment, Energy, Health, Inspiration And Social Issues.

Thanks to overwhelming votes at Aware Guide, Genetic Roulette was a clear winner. It was also a close runner-up for the their top Impact film. Aware Guide noted, “The overwhelming support for this film shows that it is only a matter of time before GMO labeling laws are passed.”

For some reason, it is easy to see the sensational Supersize Me, but go back to fast food eating after the dazzle fades. Not so with Genetic Roulette - it so empowering and info-packed that one could easily walk away from GMOs, conventional pesticide-doused no-nutrient produce, and store-bought milk laced with bovine growth hormone — forever.

Barbara H. Peterson ~ Millions Of GMO Mosquitoes Released On General Public

Govt Slaves | November 9 2012

Barb writesLook out people of planet earth, genetically engineered bugs are here. Just in case you haven’t figured it out yet, our technocracy is working ever diligently on genetically engineering every last living cell on the planet – WITHOUT EXCEPTION. What does this mean for life here on earth? Ever hear the expression “soup sandwich?” Well, after these “scientific” geniuses are through with us, that is exactly what all life will be – a genetic soup sandwich, made in a lab, and stamped with a corporate logo embedded in our DNA.

If the following report from Testbiotech doesn’t send chills up your spine, I don’t know what will. Get ready world, because nothing will ever be the same. Ever. There is no remediation technique available to clean up genetically engineered mutations released into the wild and spread through horizontal gene transfer.

Regulatory decisions on releasing genetically modified (GM) insects biased by corporate interests

Dr Helen Wallace, Director of GeneWatch UK said “The public will be shocked to learn that GM insects can be released into the environment without any proper oversight. Conflicts-of-interest should be removed from all decision-making processes to ensure the public have a proper say about these plans.”

London/ Munich Thursday 8th November 2012 A briefing published today by public interest groups highlights how regulatory decisions on GM insects in Europe and around the world are being biased by corporate interests.

J. D. Heyes ~ India Prepares To Kick Monsanto To The Curb

Natural News | October 23 2012

India, the world’s second-most populous country and one of its poorest, has apparently had enough of agribusiness giant Monsanto.

According to a recent story in Science magazine:

Sounding what some regard as the death knell for the development of genetically modified food crops in India, a high-profile parliamentary panel last week recommended that GM crop “field trials under any garb should be discontinued forthwith,” and that agricultural GM research should “only be done under strict containment.” If implemented, the report’s recommendations would paralyze research and erode India’s food security, warns India’s chief of crop research.

Even more damning is this: Following the release of the report, the panel’s chair, Basudeb Acharia, said in no uncertain terms: “India should not go in for GM food crops.”

According to the author of the piece, Pallava Bagla, the panel’s recommendation has been looked upon by some “as the death knell of the development of genetically modified food crops in India,” a development that, despite the country’s burgeoning population, would nonetheless be a sound policy decision, given what we know about the ill effects of GM foods.

‘Sending mixed signals’

Consider that, from a public policy perspective, it’s fair to ponder just how much India will save in healthcare costs alone for its citizens – health expenditures that would have been caused by GM foods but that would never materialize if the country abandons such foods altogether.

Ethan A. Huff ~ Americans Eat More Than Their Body Weight In GMOs Every Year, Study Shows

Natural News | October 18 2012

The consumer advocacy organization Environmental Working Group (EWG) has put out a new paper that estimates the average person’s yearly consumption of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs). And based on the figures, which EWG admits are very likely understated, the average person consumes more than their own body weight’s worth of GMOs every single year, a shocking reality with unknown, long-term health consequences.

For their study, EWG researchers compiled data from 2011 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data sheets on average per capita consumption of various GM foods, including corn-based sweeteners like corn syrup, salad oils, and various other “corn products” like corn oil and corn meal. They then analyzed these figures based on the percentages of each of the crops used to make these products that are genetically engineered in the U.S.

The average adult in America, it turns out, weighs 179 pounds, and consumes an average of 193 pounds of GM corn-based products and salad oils every year. And when various other GMOs are added into the mix that were not included as part of the original study — in addition to corn and sugar beets, soybean oil and other soy-based products, conventional papaya, and canola oil are all widely consumed foods of GM origin as well — the contrast between body weight and GMO consumption widens even more significantly.

“From these figures, EWG calculated that the average American annually consumes genetically engineered foods in these quantities: 68 pounds of beet sugar, 58 pounds of corn syrup, 38 pounds of soybean oil and 29 pounds of corn-based products, for a total of 193 pounds,” says EWG.

With more new GMOs on the way, consumption patterns expected to increase dramatically

John McKiernan ~ Arctic Apples: The Genetically Engineered Apple Coming To A Store Near You

Natural News | October 17 2012

For the past 10 years Okanagan Specialty Fruits, a small company out of British Columbia, Canada has been developing what will most likely be the first genetically engineered apple to hit the market. The purpose of the genetic alteration is to prevent the apple from turning brown or bruising. The primary objective of the new trait; however, focuses mainly on industry supply chain costs rather than the consumer, as fewer apples will be rejected by grocery stores due to minor bruising. Company president, Neal Carter nevertheless insists that the goal of the company is to get people to eat more apples. While this may also be true, the public strongly opposes the new GMO.

Survey says…

Okanagan conducted their own survey asking Americans whether they would be likely to purchase Arctic apples. According to the survey 60 percent of American apple eaters would be extremely likely to purchase the apples. Another survey was taken a year later by the British Columbia Fruit Growers’ Association. This time, genetic engineering was emphasized in the survey. The overwhelming result was that 70 percent of Canadians opposed the apple. Undoubtedly Okanagan downplayed the GE aspect, while emphasizing the apple’s advantages. It’s safe to say most people wouldn’t prefer a GM apple over a normal one. It’s also safe to assume that if everyone understood the potential health consequences of GM foods, nobody wouldever give their approval to any GM food.

Marcia Ishii-Eiteman ~ Genetically Modified Food Industry’s Dirty Little Secret

Reader Supported News | October 9 2012

As a scientist at Pesticide Action Network, I am frequently asked these days to explain what genetically engineered (GE) crops have to do with pesticides. When I answer that GE crops both contain and drive up pesticide use, I am often met with earnest incredulity. We seem to need to believe that GE technology is the best thing since sliced bread.

On a radio program just last week, a caller voiced his genuine hopes to me that GE crops would provide a green solution to the woes of the world since he’d heard that these crops increase yield, cure blindness and reduce pesticide use. I was sorry to have to disappoint him on all counts, since GE crops have consistently failed to improve yield, have done nothing to date for Vitamin A deficiency-related blindness and have driven increases in pesticide use since their introduction some sixteen years ago.

On this last point, a new study on GE crops out last week added yet more weight to the body of evidence contradicting the GE crop industry’s long-standing myth. Published Friday in the journal Environmental Sciences Europe, the Washington State University (WSU) study offers a simple but devastating finding: GE seeds dramatically increase pesticide use, and that use will grow unless we change the course of our food and farming system.

So here it is, the pesticide industry’s dirty little secret: GE seeds are no green solution to the world’s food needs, but are rather the growth engine of the world’s biggest pesticide companies. In point of fact, the latest wave of GE crops is expected to drive a 25-fold increase in the use of one particularly nasty pesticide (2,4-D) in corn over the next seven years.

Whole Foods Confronted for GMO in Stores [Video]

 | October 6 2012

Take a look at this mural, painted on the side of one of Whole Foods’ Austin locations: It brags, ‘Nothing Artificial Ever,’ but the admitted GMO ingredients sold on store shelves could never be considered to be anything but man-made freaks of nature.

With GMO foods more prevalent and more unpopular than ever, even “organic”-oriented grocery chains have been scrambling to spin the sad truth that genetically-modified ingredients have saturated the market and infiltrated virtually all food brands.

Such is the case with Whole Foods, leader in the organic products market, who’ve made billions advertising their stores as all ‘natural,’ wholesome and containing ‘nothing artificial ever,’ all while admittedly selling GMOs inside the store.

Mike Adams ~ Frankenscientists Announce Mutant GMO Cows To Produce Hormone-Induced ‘Engineered’ Milk For Human Babies

Natural News | October 2 2012

The world of genetic engineering has fallen even further into the surreal with the announcement that New Zealand “scientists” have unveiled a genetically modified mutant cloned cow which they say produces a reduced-allergen milk for consumption by human babies. This is being reported by the BBC and elsewhere.

Horrifyingly, these Frankenscientists cloned a cow and then altered the embryo using RNA interference. After gestation, the mutant GMO cow was born without a tail! But these scientists say that’s no problem, and that the mutation of having no tail couldn’t possibly be related to anything they did with the cow’s DNA.

I’m not making this up. This is the insanity of the quack science world in which we now live.

Milk causes allergies primarily because of pasteurization

The entire project is a fool’s errand to begin with since the reason most humans are allergic to cow’s milk is because of pasteurization which destroys lactase enzymes. RAW MILK is far easier to digest, but of course raw milk has been all but criminalized in America, where the FDA along with Ventura County and LA County in California actually stage armed raids on raw milk distribution centers and throw people in jail. James Stewart, for example, remains in jail this very day for the “crime” of being involved in raw milk. Sign the petition HERE to demand freedom for James.

Dr. Mercola ~ How Can the Wealthiest Industrialized Nation be the Sickest?

Mercola | September 15 2012 | Thanks, Annette

The human race is the unwitting participant in a massive science experiment, as presented in this masterful new documentary by Jeffrey Smith. Smith is one of the world’s leading authorities on the health dangers of genetically engineered (GE) foods.
The film expands on his second book, Genetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods.

As a consumer advocate against GE foods, Smith’s authority is unrivaled. His meticulous research has documented how biotech companies continue to mislead legislators and safety officials.

The health of the environment in peril. Smith has made this information widely available via his Institute for Responsible Technology website, one of the most comprehensive sources of GE health information on the Internet.

How Can the Wealthiest Industrialized Nation be the Sickest?

Americans get sick more often than Europeans or people from any other industrialized nation. Since the mid-1990s, the number of Americans suffering from at least three chronic illnesses nearly doubled. Life expectancy has decreased and infant mortality has increased. Illnesses once rare are now common, with some approaching epidemic levels. For example:

  • Autism now affects one in 88 children (CDC1), compared to one in 25,0002in the mid-1970s
  • Type 2 diabetes rates in the U.S. increased by 176 percent between 1980 and 20103
  • Celiac disease is four times more common now than 60 years ago4
  • Alzheimer’s disease is rising at alarming rates. It’s estimated that 5.4 million Americans (one in eight older Americans) now has Alzheimer’s disease, and nearly half of those age 85 and older have it; AD rates have doubled since 19805
  • New infectious diseases are increasing in number, according to a 2008 study6

In his documentary, Jeffrey Smith makes a convincing argument that one of the primary forces driving these illnesses is America’s changing food supply. And one of the most profound changes is genetically engineered food. Proving GE food is causing Americans to be sick is a tall order, but the evidence presented in this film is very compelling and should not be ignored.

Anthony Gucciardi ~ Avoiding GMOs in Your Daily Life

Natural Society | August 23 2012

View video here

As California remains the proverbial battlefield for GMO labeling, an increased interest is growing over ways to actually start avoiding GMOs in your daily life. By far the best tip, which may not be applicable at all times, is to stick to high quality organic sources. Preferably 100% organic or locally grown by organic-based farmers. This certainly is not always an option, so I’ve compiled a quick ‘cheat sheet’ of the top genetically modified crops and substances that you can remember when avoiding GMOs in your daily life.

Produce items like yellow squash and papaya are considered by many worldwide to be health foods, however chances are that these food items among about 8 others I will be discussing today are heavily modified. Keep in mind that Monsanto is continually on a mission to dominate virtually 100% of the food supply, having already conquered upwards of 90% conservatively of staple crops like soybeans and corn.

A number of non-organic food products actually do exist that are free of GMOs, but it is important to learn the deceptive marketing tricks used by fake ‘health conscious’ brands who wish only to trick you into purchasing their GMO-laden garbage. As it was revealed back in October of 2011, many ‘eco-friendly’ brands are actually sporting the presence of GMOs within their products. Even products that have a “Non-GMO” label on their package! That’s right, it’s vitally important that the Non-GMO product sticker states that it is “verified” by the Non-GMO project or another source. Otherwise, it has been found to be a worthless claim.
