Mike Adams ~ U.S. Lawmakers Secretly Negotiating To Exempt Themselves From Obamacare

NaturalNews April 26 2013

Top lawmakers on Capitol Hill are negotiating a secret deal to exempt themselves from Obamacare. The Obamacare mandate is a total nightmare, of course, and it doubles health insurance rates while providing nothing resembling actual “health” care. It’s such a nightmare that the very people who passed it now want to exempt themselves from it.

That would leave it in a state where only the constituents are subjected to its onerous costs and mandates, not the lawmakers who passed it into law. How’s that for hypocrisy in America?

According to a report from Politico, “Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.”

Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell has the best reply to all this: “Let’s exempt the entire country from Obamacare,” he said according to a Breitbart.com report.

Dwight Kehoe ~ Presidential Executive Orders: Constitutional Or Criminal?

Canada Free Press April 24 2013

As new polls indicate that only 4% of Americans think more gun control is an important issue, and the United States Senate, even if just temporarily, did the right thing and voted to stop further infringement of the the 2nd Amendment, this illegal and imperial President has indicated he intends to “write law” via yet another unconstitutional Executive Order.

Article II does not give any President the authority to write legislation or to adjudicate laws which affect the citizens of this country. The executive order can only be used, constitutionally, for the administration of government operations and employees. Article I, specifically gives legislation over the people to only the Congress.

A common misconception which has been used to excuse the unlawful use of the Executive Order is that every President, including George Washington has used them. While this is “factually” correct, it is not true that George Washington abused it. His EO’s were limited to the operation of the Executive Branch and did not ever legislate laws for anyone outside of the government.

However, the most wide reaching violation of the Executive Order came from one of this country’s greatest Presidents, Abraham Lincoln. His Emancipation Proclamation of January 1, 1863 was, for certain, noble, just and something long needed and overdue. For that reason, that Executive Order met small and disorganized opposition from the legislative branch and……. the precedent was set.

Anthony Gucciardi ~ Report Confirms Food Corps Using Junk, Misleading Science To Protect Profits

Natural Society February 14 2013

A new report hitting the headlines has confirmed what we have been stating for years: major processed food corporations that peddle health-decimating ‘food’ rely purely on distorted misleading junk science.

Thanks in part to pumping millions upon millions into lobbying the government in order to prevent legislation that would help to protect the public and ‘building relationships with health organizations’, The Indepdendent reports that multinational ‘Big Food’ corporations have been getting away with what could be argued as literal murder through the onset of chronic disease as a result of pushing their dangerous products on the public without restraint.

Corporations Using Junk Science to Protect Profits

The report states that these Big Food corporations are using techniques extremely similar to those utilized by Big Tobacco companies who sought to use fake ‘science’ in order to claim that cigarettes were not the cause of disease in order to secure profits. Tactics that are similar to those used by the author of the debunked study claiming that organic was the ‘same’ as non-organic, Ingram Olkin, a Stanford scientist who actually developed the ‘Dr. Ingram Olkin multivariate Logistic Risk Function’, the function was used by Big Tobacco to skew statistics.

Tyler Durden ~ The Vulnerability Of The Elites

Zerohedge January 31 2013 Thanks Kevin

In a post-financial crisis world, the lack of viable international leadership is potentially troubling. In 2013, the WEF believes, this breakdown of international coordination will go increasingly local: in such a world, governments will focus more on their domestic agendas, which will create new risks in and of itself. Most importantly, the growing vulnerability of elites makes effective public and private leadership that much more difficult to sustain.

Leaders of all kinds are becoming more vulnerable to their constituents, generating more reactive and short-term governance. Whether one looks at the dismal approval ratings of the U.S. Congress or the impact that more open flows of information is having on the Chinese ruling elite, it is clear that people are becoming more and more uninspired by their governments. When it comes to unemployment, the widening disparity of wealth, or environmental degradation, highly complex or even intractable issues set politicians up for failure in the eyes of their constituents. Under performance erodes elites’ legitimacy, making it that much harder for them to lead effectively. Against this backdrop, a host of key 2013 risks and opportunities takes shape.

JG Vibes ~ Dozens Of Harvard Students Suspended For Cheating On “Introduction To Congress” Exam

theintelhub.com February 4 2013

It would be interesting to know how many of these students are actively pursuing careers in politics. I’m sure that most members of congress would have to make their way through this course, and chances are they would have done it at Yale, Harvard or a similar institution.

According to The Boston Globe:

“The official announcement came as no surprise to many undergraduates, who saw dozens of classmates, teammates, and friends quickly disappear from campus without explanation throughout the fall semester. But the statement provided new perspective on the details of the investigation, a process that even Smith conceded had experienced delays because of its massive scale.

Though Harvard officials declined to comment further on the details of the case, Smith’s letter outlined a series of possible reforms that may be put in place to help students and faculty avoid similar situations in the future.

The students were accused of collaborating on the last of four take-home exams in the spring 2012 lecture Government 1310: Introduction to Congress. The students were given a week to complete the exams. Suspicions were first made public last August, when Harvard announced it was dealing with a cheating scandal of unknown scope.”

John Williams ~ May 2013-End Of The Road [Video]

USA Watchdog | January 28 2013

Anybody who thinks the U.S. is in a so-called recovery isn’t listening to economist John Williams.  He contends, “We haven’t had a recovery and we’re not about to have one, and it’s getting worse.”  Williams says it’s because, “The consumer is in very serious trouble. . . . The average guy is not making it.  His income is not keeping up with inflation.”

As far as Congress getting the budget and debt ceiling under control, Williams says,“Both sides are faced with devil’s choices.”  If Congress does not get its financial house in order by the new deadline in mid-May 2013, Williams predicts, “It will be the end of the road . . . . They are not going to have another opportunity . . . they are pushing the limit as it is now.”  Williams says he expects, “. . . a negative reaction in the next 3 or 4 months to the dollar.” Williams adamantly calls for hyperinflation to the U.S. dollar by the end of 2014.  Join Greg Hunter as he goes One-on-One with John Williams of Shadowstats.com.

Mollie Reilly ~ Rand Paul Plans Legislation To Nullify Gun Control Executive Orders

Govt Slaves | January 17 2013

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is proposing legislation to nullify President Obama’s executive actions on gun policy, claiming that the president’s actions are a breach of constitutional separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches.

During a Wednesday appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity,” the Republican senator outlined his plan to challenge Obama’s anti-gun violence package.

“Our founding fathers were very concerned about us having separation of powers. They didn’t want to let the president become a king.” Paul said. “In this bill, we will nullify anything the president does that smacks of legislation.”

Paul continued: “I’m afraid that President Obama may have this king complex sort of developing … I think there’s a history of this arrogance.”

Talking Points Memo offered more details on Paul’s plan:

“We only have descriptions of the executive actions, yet many could be construed to describe an attempt by the executive to make laws in violation of the Article 1, Sec. 8 of the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment,” reads the one-page summary of the Paul plan shared with TPM by his staff.Paul’s bill will set out to nullify Obama’s executive actions, deny any federal funding for their implementation, and allow members of Congress and state officials to challenge the actions in court.

Paul acknowledged that he may have trouble garnering support for his proposal in the Senate, where Democrats hold the majority.

“This idea of checks and balances and separation of powers should be a fundamental one,” Paul said. “I’m afraid that there isn’t much support on the Democratic side, but we’ll see.”

Seth McLaughlin ~ Congress Less Popular Than Root Canal, Cockroaches And Lice, Poll Says

The Washington Times | January 8 2013

A new poll shows that Congress is less popular than carnies, root canals and colonoscopies, but more popular than the ebola virus, meth labs and gonorrhea.

Those findings are in a Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released Tuesday showed that 9 percent of the respondents held a favorable opinion of Congress, while 85 percent held an unfavorable view.

“We all know Congress is unpopular,” said Dean Debnam, PPP president. “But the fact that voters like it even less than cockroaches, lice and Genghis Kahn really shows how far its esteem has fallen with the American public over the last few weeks.”

On the bright side, Congress came out of the survey in higher standing than North Korea, the Kardashian family, and actress Lindsay Lohan, as well as Cuba’s Fidel Castro and former Sen. John Edwards.

On the not-so-bright side, it lost out in the popularity contest to the rock band Nickelback, real estate magnate Donald Trump, NFL replacement refs and France.

The survey of 830 voters was performed between Jan. 3 and Jan. 6 and has a 3.4 percent margin of error. The results of the poll can be found here.

If Obama Can Just Create A Trillion Dollar Coin, Then Why Do We Have To Pay Taxes?

Economic Collapse Blog | January 8 2013

If Barack Obama can “solve” the debt ceiling crisis by printing up some trillion dollar coins, then why does the federal government need our money?  As another debt ceiling showdown approaches, many in the liberal media are suggesting that if Congress does not raise the debt ceiling that Obama should just have the U.S. Treasury create a trillion dollar platinum coin and use it to pay our bills.  It sounds crazy, but many notable voices (including Paul Krugman of the New York Times) are supporting this idea.  But if the federal government has had the power to create trillion dollar coins out of thin air all this time, then why do we have to pay taxes?  Not only that, why do we have a national debt?  If the federal government can just create money whenever it wants, then why does the federal government ever have to borrow it from others?  The U.S. Constitution actually grants Congress the power to “coin money”, so why is the Federal Reserve doing it?  Those are some very important questions.  Most Americans don’t even realize that the U.S. government never actually needed to borrow a single penny from anyone else.  The U.S. Congress has the authority to create debt-free money whenever it wants to.  Conceivably, the entire federal government could be funded without ever borrowing a single dollar and without ever receiving a single dollar from any of us in taxes.  Just imagine that – a nation without a single penny of national debt, no income tax and no IRS.  What a wonderful world that would be.  Of course there would be other potential dangers under such a system (such as runaway inflation), and those dangers would have to be addressed.  But the truth is that we don’t have to have an income tax or 16 trillion dollars of government debt.  We only have those things because we have chosen to have those things.

Sometimes, a crisis can illuminate options that most people had not considered previously.  As another debt ceiling crisis draws closer, many are looking for ways for the U.S. government to be able to continue to pay its bills if Congress does not authorize an increase in the debt ceiling.

If a debt ceiling agreement is not worked out, the U.S. government will soon only be able to pay about half the bills that are coming due after interest payments on the national debt (which will almost certainly be prioritized) are made.

That is why a lot of people on the left are pushing the “trillion dollar coin” alternative.  So how would this work exactly?  The mechanics were recently explained by Jim Pethokoukis on his American Enterprise Institute blog

There are limits on how much paper money the U.S. can circulate and rules that govern coinage on gold, silver, and copper.  BUT, the Treasury has broad discretion on coins made from platinum.  The theory goes that the U.S. Mint would create a handful of trillion dollar (or more) platinum coins.  The President would then order the coins deposited at the Fed, who would then put the coin(s) in the Treasury who now can pay all their bills and a default is removed from the equation.  The effects on the currency market and inflation are unclear, to say the least.

J.B. Williams ~ Law Center Warns Congress Not To Certify 2012 Election

News With Views | January 3 2013

Despite a deafening silence on the part of the government controlled news media, it is no secret that very serious questions concerning Barack Obama’s history persist and that wide-spread election fraud was used by the Democratic Party and the Obama Campaign to secure a second Obama-Biden term.

At least one group seems interested in getting answers to those questions and stopping congress from certifying the 2012 election results until the American people have those answers.

The newly formed North American Law Center is serving members of the US Congress with a notice, demanding that congress stop the fraudulent 2012 election and advising members of congress not to become complicit in the fraud by certifying the tainted outcome of the 2012 election.

Greg Hunter ~ Bagmen Not Statesmen

USA Watchdog | December 26 2012

What has been going on in Washington, D.C., since the financial meltdown of 2008 has been a disaster for the country.  Taxpayers bailed out crooked, incompetent bankers while tens of millions lost their homes and jobs.  The bailouts have cost trillions of dollars, and they’re not finished.  The Federal Reserve has set a key interest rate to near zero percent until 2015, and it is printing $85 billion a month to prop up the banks and our own government.  The Fed calls this little operation “open-ended.”  No one has gone to jail for causing this enormous hardship on ordinary Americans, and not a word is spoken in the halls of Congress about stopping the bailouts or bringing criminals to justice.  This is immoral, disgusting, repugnant, nonexistent leadership.

This could have been handled in 2008 with the debt wiped clean.  We should have only protected depositors.  Bankers, bondholders and shareholders be damned—that’s capitalism.  It would have cost about $6 trillion back then, and we’d be on our way to a real recovery by now.  That is exactly what Iceland did.  It told bankers, shareholders and bondholders to take a big hit instead of giving a bailout for incompetence and fraud.  Oh, and it prosecuted the bankers and government officials that allowed the implosion to happen!  (Click here for more on Iceland’s turnaround.)  Instead, the Federal Reserve alone pumped out $16 trillion in the wake of the 2008 meltdown.  That is only part of the banker bailout that is still going on to the tune of $40 billion a month.  Not a single financial elite has been prosecuted and put behind bars for obvious crime and fraud—not one!

 Activist Post | November 16 2012

Ron Paul, in his historic farewell speech to Congress this week, asked 32 thought-provoking questions addressed to his fellow Americans. It’s very clear upon examination of these questions that something is very wrong with our government.

Below are his questions:
  1. Why are sick people who use medical marijuana put in prison?
  2. Why does the federal government restrict the drinking of raw milk?
  3. Why can’t Americans manufacturer rope and other products from hemp?
  4. Why are Americans not allowed to use gold and silver as legal tender as mandated by the Constitution?
  5. Why is Germany concerned enough to consider repatriating their gold held by the FED for her in New York? Is it that the trust in the U.S. and dollar supremacy beginning to wane?
  6. Why do our political leaders believe it’s unnecessary to thoroughly audit our own gold?
  7. Why can’t Americans decide which type of light bulbs they can buy?
  8. Why is the TSA permitted to abuse the rights of any American traveling by air?
