Milky Way, Auroras & Thunderstorms [Video]

Randy Halverson ~ “I shot Huelux from April-November 2013 in South Dakota, Wyoming and Utah. The weather in 2013 made it difficult for me to get some of the shots I wanted. There were many times I planned to shoot the Milky Way or Aurora, and the clouds would roll in. But that also allowed me to get more night storm timelapse than I have any other year.

“I was in Utah for 6 nights, it was clear only one night, it was also 95F at midnight that night. So I couldn’t shoot as high of an ISO as I wanted because of noise, but I still pulled off a few good shots in Zion Canyon. The weather was much the same while I was in Wyoming, it was cloudy 2/3 of the nights I was there. But I did get some of my best Milky Way shots of the year in Wyoming, see 1:45-2:05 in the video. The clouds did make for some good sunrise and sunset shots. Continue reading

Music Industry Exposed (Part 1)

Misuse and Abuse of Esoteric Symbols

‘Signs and symbols rule the world, not words nor laws.’ Confucius

StopRedSignSymbols are a universal language, and such a part of our lives that once we are exposed to them we process them on a subconscious level, our actions guided by them without us having to think about it. We automatically stop at red lights and know which button turns on the TV because of the common symbols used to represent them. But the power of symbols goes far beyond their day-to-day to use.

Esoteric symbols are those with a hidden meaning, likely to be understood only by a small number of people, and have been used throughout time in the great spiritual traditions to guide truth seekers. Depending on how they’re used they can represent and attract either forces of darkness or forces of light.

Increasingly esoteric symbols are making their way into popular culture, especially in high profile places like the music industry. What is the source of these symbols? Why are so many artists using them? Are they just something “cool” that major players came up with to represent their personal brands? Or are they part of a sinister plan? Are esoteric symbols being used for good or evil?

A Brief Introduction to Esoteric Symbolism

Many who study the use of esoteric symbolism in popular culture approach their analysis from a religious perspective, and as such consider all esoteric symbols to be part of a Satanic, anti-Christian agenda. While it’s understandable that symbols may be perceived in this way because they are often used in sinister contexts associated with darkness, it appears that entrenching the idea that all esoteric symbols are “evil” is part of the agenda behind their misuse. Precognition

“Science Shows How Our Body Reacts To Events Up To 10 Seconds Before They Happen” – A Walia

PrecognitionManOver the past few decades a significant and noteworthy amount of scientific research has emerged contributing to the notion that human precognition could very well be real, and that we all might possess this potential -amongst various other extended human capacities. Thanks to the research by various scientists presented in this article, extended human capacities are beginning to exit the realm of superstitious thinking, delusion and irrationality and find their way into the world of confirmed phenomena. Claims of precognition or “future telling” have occurred “throughout human history in virtually every culture and period.” (source)

It’s not hard to see why we are so fascinated with these concepts, they are embedded in popular culture today throughout various outlets such as movies -which can sometimes be counter productive given the fact that they are merged with fictional stories and events. Similar to the extraterrestrial phenomenon, the validity of these concepts seems to shrink due to the fact that they are “just movies.” Although the stories that accompany these types of phenomena in movies is probably largely factious, the concepts do hold some validity. Let’s examine the truth behind pre cognition and claims of “future telling.”

The Science

“There seems to be a deep concern that the whole field will be tarnished by studying a phenomenon that is tainted by its association with superstition, spiritualism and magic. Protecting against this possibility sometimes seems more important than encouraging scientific exploration or protecting academic freedom. But this may be changing.”  – Cassandra Vieten, PhD and President/CEO at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (source)

The Dangers of Pharmaceutical Nasal Sprays

“What can you use in place of a nasal spray? Fortunately, there are safer ways including nasal irrigation where you wash out your nose once or twice daily with warm salt water. This is a low risk, low cost method that washes away those irritants and toxins.” – J Chitty

Nasal SprayMany will reach for an over-the-counter nasal spray without a second thought, but how safe are they to use? What are the risks? Who shouldn’t use them? Can they become addictive?

Decades ago, people would put up with hay fever at this time of the year or they would use a variety of home remedies. Now, relief from itchy noses, watery eyes, and nasal congestion are just a quick spritz away, with prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical nasal sprays being one of the most common ways to treat nasal congestion caused by allergies or infection.

I have just been reading the package insert for one such nasal spray – Vicks Sinex Soother – and there is a long list of those who should not be using this nasal spray at all. In fact, the one good thing that can be said about it is that you are not likely to notice any effect on your ability to drive or use a machine!

So what are the potential dangers?

Even more congestion!

One drawback of commercial nasal sprays can be even more congestion! It is estimated that 7% of the United States population suffer from a drug-induced condition called rhinitis medicamentosa which is actually caused by using the nasal spray. This condition occurs when a decongestant nasal spray is used repeatedly for more than three to five consecutive days, leading to nasal passage damage and the inability to respond to the decongestant. Very often, rhinitis medicamentosa goes undiagnosed.

Steroids and dependency

Nasal sprays contain steroids. They constrict the blood vessels inside your nose. It is when you have a cold, flu or allergies that these blood vessels become swollen and dilated, stimulating the nasal membranes to produce large amounts of mucus. When you constrict the blood vessels by using a nasal spray, they shrink and help to dry up the mucus – and it feels good.

The problem arises when your nose becomes too used to the nasal spray’s effect, cancelling it out. You end up relying on the spray more and more. This goes on for so long that you find you cannot function without having a nasal spray at hand for constant use. Although at the start of its use, the nasal spray will be effective for 6 to 8 hours, this time span becomes less and less with use. This is the main reason why the package insert advises you to use it for no longer than 3 days. You may not be addicted but you may certainly become dependent.
