The legislation is designed to prevent foreign governments from extending their online speech restrictions into the United States.

Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers has confirmed that a new “censorship shield law” is being drawn up to ensure that laws like the UK’s Online Safety Act and the EU’s Digital Services Act cannot be used to censor citizens or companies in the US. Continue reading →
