Who The Hell Is Lucifer?

Katherine Frisk Lucifer was the Latin name for the planet Venus. It was also known as the morning and the evening star. Astronomically speaking, at certain times during the year, it is either the last star seen in the morning or the first star seen at night.

As such it had a dual nature. Bringing the dawn and also bringing the darkness. The term, “oh Lucifer you have fallen,”refers to Venus as the evening star.

venusBut Venus is not a star it is a planet.  Venus is not to be confused with the real “morning star,” Sirius, also known as the Goddess Isis ( today falsely attributed to a terrorist group ,)  that is seen at dawn with the rising of the sun in late July early August.

Sirius as we shall see, was associated with a completely different philosophy to that of the planet Venus-Lucifer-Ishtar. Sirius is represented by the eight pointed star, and at the time of it’s rising, the Nile would flood, literally baptizing Egypt and bringing with it fertile silt that regenerated, rejuvenated and gave a rebirth to the country. As Isis she is a faithful wife of Osiris and gives birth to the divine child Horus.

Venus on the other hand, as it moves throughout our solar system, forms the geometrical outline of a pentagon in the sky. So the planet Venus is associated with light at dawn and darkness, Lucifer falling at sunset, and with the pentagram. Continue reading

A Dynamic, Unpredictable, Transformative and Introspective April

venusHenry Seltzer – The astrology of April features Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Eris. Inner planet retrogrades dominate the astrological landscape, leading to an inward-looking time, including Venus continuing from the previous month up until the 15th, and Mercury beginning on April 9th. The signs of these retrograde planets will also prove to be of great interest in a more detailed analysis, below. Neptune is strong in his own sign of Pisces, lending an air of spiritual fulfillment and, also, of confusion to the proceedings.

Saturn, representing the conservative backlash to major change, is also quite powerfully placed, especially during this first week because stationing on April 5th to retrograde motion. Meanwhile, Uranus continues to be extremely prominent, due to his ongoing long-term conjunction with the new planet, Eris, which greatly strengthens his influence in the direction of an activist agenda, and the opposition between Uranus and Jupiter. While getting wider, this key combination is still active, creating a T-square to Pluto and bringing front and center the radically transformative effects of Uranus-Pluto, the signature outer-planet combination of this difficult decade. Our lives are in metamorphosis, and we are growing through the changes, and this would seem to be an inescapable fact.

A Last Quarter Moon of Coming to Terms with Reality

venusHenry Seltzer – Monday morning’s Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn brings the practicality of the Saturn-ruled sign of Capricorn into a head-on confrontation with the flightier condition of Aries, the sign of the Sun and of the Spring Equinox, where we encounter a powerful presence of retrograde Venus, and where a very prominent Uranus still holds sway, along with Eris, the new planet beyond Pluto.

These latter two planets in combination have been responsible for quite a stir recently, and this is getting even stronger as their conjunction perfects for one final time this month. The combination produces a rebellious opposition to any kind of status quo, moving in the direction of deep soul intention, as each involved individual is able to discern this within himself or herself.

There is as well a dreamy and idealistic quality to all our imaginings now, with Neptune activated by a forming close quintile from the Moon in the first degree of Capricorn. Meanwhile, the conservative backlash to all this activism, as represented by stodgy old Saturn, also featured in this quarter Moon, is there for all to see, producing a collision that is fully supported by the Sun and Moon occupying these antithetical signs, one focused on future achievement, with Uranus so very prominent, while the other, in the Capricornian mode, constantly forcing us back to reality.

It’s up to you to seize the day when the Sun enters Aries on Monday, March 20, the first official day of spring. This timeframe marks the ascent of the Sun as it begins its ascent to the highest point in the visible sky.
