Steps Required For A Successful Graduation Party

Real adult life begins with graduation.

Once the exam, tests, sleepless nights with notes and dictionaries are left behind you can look forward to graduation.

It’s an American tradition to take graduation seriously. It is an event prepared for in advance and given  no less care than a wedding or big anniversary.

It’s important for college graduates to experience a day of beauty, festivity and a certain amount of solemnity before starting  a new chapter in life. Continue reading

Tiger Woods demands respect for POTUS

woodsThe Horn editorial team – Professional golfer Tiger Woods refused to attack President Donald Trump during an interview on Sunday. Instead, the golfer urged Americans to respect the office of the president.

Following a recent golf tournament, Woods was questioned by a liberal reporter on his thoughts about the president’s policies regarding illegal immigrants.

Shooting down the attack, Woods responded that no matter who is president, it is important to “respect the office” even if you do not agree.

According to USA Today, Woods was asked how he would respond to people who find his friendly relationship with Trump “interesting.”

“At times, especially 2018, I think a lot of people, especially immigrants are threatened by him and his policy — what do you say to people who might find it interesting that you have a friendly relationship with him?” the reporter asked. Continue reading

The Great American Witness Auction: How Michael Cohen And Others Are Making Millions In A Testimony Market

cohenJonathan Turley – Lawyer Lanny Davis this week became a virtual infomercial for a GoFundMe site. In continuous appearances on every network, Davis shilled for donors for his client, former Donald Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

Such fundraising has become a regular feature of Washington scandals. Almost $2 million has been raised by anti-Trump figures such as former FBI acting director Andrew McCabe, fired FBI agent Peter Strzok and adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump protégés like Roger Stone similarly are raising money from the other side.

Cohen’s pitch, however, highlights a troubling aspect of these campaigns. They amount to a raw form of buying witnesses. For many, GoFundMe has become a bazaar where one can put money down on the testimony most likely to hurt or help Trump. People poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into the accounts of McCabe and Strzok within the first 48 hours. Continue reading

God Chose Trump

trumpJames Arlandson – When Trump tweets something, the Self-Righteous Indignation Brigade demand that Christians immediately drop their support of the president.  If we don’t, then somehow we have lost our integrity or compromised our faith.  Isn’t that obvious?

No.  Here’s why.

I used to be a harsh Trump critic and a NeverTrump, writing various articles in a mocking, condescending style (I won’t link to them).  Through a series of circumstances and listening to various people in my church tradition and just observing, I changed my mind.  So I decided to flip this question 180 degrees.

How could God use a man with such a deficient character as Trump’s?

This Moment Is Enough

lifeMary O’Malley – This moment is enough. Take a moment and let that in. This moment is enough.

Your mind may argue with this because it is not how we have been conditioned to live. We are always seeking for more: more things, more money, more adventure, a more beautiful body, more peace, better sex, better relationships, better meditations, and on and on and on.

Researchers call this the hedonistic treadmill.  Like hamsters on a wheel we are always running after new, more and better.  (One of the places you can see this clearly is in spirituality, for most people see it as a search for better states of mind.)

Rarely, except for brief moments, are we satisfied with the life we already have. We are told  through advertising and social media that, if we just get a little more of this and a little less of that, then we will reach the elusive happiness we long for. Continue reading
