Link Between Gluten Sensitivity And Autism Found

NaturalSociety  August 8 2013

Autism, or more accurately—autism spectrum disorders, affect an estimated one in 88 children globally, striking children from all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. Yet, despite its prevalence, there is much about autism that isn’t understood. Perhaps most importantly—the cause. Numerous studies have various causes of autism like chemical exposure, vaccines, food intolerances, pollution, and “defective genes”, but a recent study published in the online journal PLoS One indicates another potential risk factor or at least another link in the autism mystery – this time it’s gluten sensitivity.

Researchers with Columbia University’s Department of Medicine and the Celiac Disease Center aimed to assess the reaction of children with autism to gluten consumption and to explore a possible link between autism and celiac disease. What they found was quite interesting.

When compared with children that do not have autism, those with the condition have higher levels of IgG antibodies to gliadin, the immunotoxic protein in wheat. They also found that children with autism who have digestive problems had an even greater antibody response. This indicates, as reported by GreenMedInfo, that these children’s immune systems are identifying gliadin proteins as harmful and that the proteins are not properly being broken down, instead entering the blood system.

But, the connection was isolated from a connection with celiac disease. In other words, the body’s response in an autistic child was not the same as in someone with the more common gluten-rejecting disease.

Courts Rule Vaccines Containing MMR And Thimerosal Caused Autism And Brain Damage

Activist Post July 7 2013

All information containing new and unprecedented conclusions begins by being violently opposed by those who create the prior information and those who subscribe heavily to it. This is very much the case with the link between Autism Spectrum Disorder and vaccines; mainly the MMR vaccine and other thimerosal-containing vaccines.

It is clear that the stance from mainstream science is that there is no link between vaccines and autism. You can find more about that here. But for many people this does not dispel all concern. Dr. Hooker, PhD, PE says that the recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study on vaccines and autism is “perhaps the most flawed and disingenuous study” he has ever encountered.

Given the number of firsthand cases that make their rounds stating that children are immediately affected by certain vaccines, and parents are noticing something is ‘wrong’ suddenly with their child, it is easy to see why people are still concerned. In every vaccine and autism link article we have on CE, there are many comments from parents stating that they watched their child change within hours and days of getting certain vaccines. So is there truly reason to be concerned? Are we just paranoid? Or is there something we have not figured out completely yet?

Regardless of the droves of faithful people hanging onto every word the CDC gives them about the safety of vaccines, I think it is incredibly important that we look at all of the information that truly exists and make our own educated decision. Many claim it is dangerous to question vaccines, and I have been threatened on many occasions for writing about it, but it isn’t going to take away the fact that people are being damaged by vaccines. That is a cold hard fact that every parent needs to know before deciding to vaccinate their child.

BPA Is Deadly To The Developing Brains Of Babies In Utero, New Study Shows

NaturalNews March 2 2013

Scientists from Duke University in North Carolina have identified yet another major threat to human health posed by the plastics chemical bisphenol-A (BPA).

According to new research, babies exposed to BPA in utero, or during their developmental stages in the womb, could experience inhibited central nervous system development, which in turn could set them up for future stricken with neurodevelopmental problems.

Because it mimics the actions of estrogen, BPA is already known to interfere with the body’s endocrine system, causing a host of potential problems ranging from behavioral and weight abnormalities to reproductive and immune disorders.

And while awareness of BPA’s dangers is on the rise all across the globe, there is still a minimal understanding as to how BPA exerts these negative effects, including how the chemical interferes with proper nervous system development.

So to gain a further understanding, researchers from Duke initiated a series of experiments designed to pinpoint the precise mechanisms by which BPA alters proper brain development.

What they found is that BPA alters chloride levels inside cells by shutting down a gene known as KCC2 that is responsible for producing the KCC2 protein.

Without this gene, cells are unable to properly transport chloride out of cells, which ends up damaging neural circuits and compromising normal brain development.

“It disrupts this process and it corrupts this process,” explained Dr. Wolfgang Liedtke, lead author of the study, to WUNC about BPA’s obstruction of the KCC2 gene.
