Government Gone Wild | April 9 2012

This past Monday President Obama challenged the Supreme Court by stating that in effect it did not have the authority to judge “ObamaCare”. His comments were quite specific and challenges arose from many quarters rather rapidly. The following day, he refined his comments and made them less severe but that did not change the uproar from numerous quarters. On Wednesday the White House press secretary explained the President’s comments even more in an effort to quiet the uproar. Many Presidents have been upset at the Supreme Court, but that normally occurred after the court made a rulingthat was contrary to the President’s desire. The greatest example was in the 1930′s when President Roosevelt threatened to stack the court with six more justices who would be in agreement with his desires. Fortunately, that went nowhere.

The media has been reporting and opining from every direction in an effort to make sense of the situation. Some suspect that the President was trying to intimidate the court, while others believe that he was sending a message to his base about his commitment to people without health insurance. This is just the latest example of President Obama acting like his decisions should not be questioned. Remember when he chastised the Supreme Court at his State of the Union address because the court ruled against him on campaign contributions by businesses.

Greg Hunter ~ Mainstream Media Power to Indict or Ignore

USA Watchdog | April 2 2012

BarackObamaAbout a month ago, renowned Arizona Sherriff Joe Arpaio made an astounding claim in a public press conference, “A six month long investigation conducted by my cold case posse has lead me to believe there is probable cause to believe that President Barack Obama’s long-form birth certificate released by the White House on April 27, 2011, is a computer-generated forgery,” said Arpaio.  The Maricopa County Sherriff claimed President Obama’s Hawaiian selective-service card was, also, “most likely a forgery.”  (Click here for the complete press release from the Maricopa County Arizona Sherriff’s office.  This includes 6 videos explaining the Obama birth certificate investigation.)

From what I can tell, every single mainstream media (MSM) outlet covered this press conference.  CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CNN, Wall Street Journal, New York Times and many more all covered this story at the very beginning of March.  Then, poof—the coverage stopped.  (Click here for the complete unedited press conference where reporters were shown video of how Arpaio’s investigators allege forgery in President Obama’s birth certificate.)  My question is why?  This story has profound implications that might question the legitimacy of Barak Obama’s presidency and the entire vetting process for the nation’s highest office.

It seems the MSM has discounted this as a ploy to divert attention from a federal civil rights investigation.  MSNBC reported, “Arpaio’s probe comes amid a federal grand jury investigation into the sheriff’s office on criminal abuse-of-power allegations since at least December 2009, focusing on the sheriff’s anti-public corruption squad. Separately, the U.S. Justice Department has accused Arpaio’s office of racially profiling Latinos, basing immigration enforcement on racially charged citizen complaints and punishing Hispanic jail inmates for speaking Spanish. Arpaio denies the allegations . . .”   Political deflection was a common theme from all the MSM stories I researched and read.   Arpaio, also, denies the Obama birth certificate investigation is politically motivated and that he is not “going after Obama.”  Arpaio said he’s just doing his job.  (Click here for the complete MSNBC story.)

Truthdigger of the Week ~ Chris Hedges

Truthdig | January 20 2012

Late last year, President Obama pulled a fast one by changing his stance on the National Defense Authorization Act so suddenly and drastically that Americans were left with a bad case of legislative whiplash—and a very serious state of affairs with regard to our civil liberties. Obama’s stunning switch underscored how abuses of power on the government’s part must be called out through uncompromising counter-statements from the people and the press. That’s why the choice was eminently clear to make Truthdig columnist, author and activist Chris Hedges our pick for this installment of Truthdigger of the Week.
