Rusty Weiss – The Supreme Court on Friday overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion at the federal level.
The ruling returns the power to limit, ban, or allow abortion, to the states.
The court overturned the decision 6-3 by upholding Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban.
Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch (R) had argued that both Roe and 1992’s Planned Parenthood v. Casey were “egregiously wrong” and “hopelessly unworkable.”

Rabbi Aryeh Spero – All that work for, and faith in, Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett! As with John Roberts before, we are once again the victims of unrequited affection and lost labor. Like other Republicans, I expended lots of hours and effort to do my part in getting all three confirmed. I wrote articles, did radio and TV interviews, gave speeches, called Senators and asked my friends to do so, and spoke to countless people.
I even attended the Senate Hearings for two of them; and in the case of Kavanaugh went face-to-face against a wild group of “feminists” blocking my way to the Senate hearing room, was bad-mouthed by them while in waiting-lines, and harassed in the office taken over by these “non-insurrection” protestors while trying to get my pre-arranged ticket which they had dumped. (Interestingly, when complaining to police how the “progressive” protestors had taken over Senator Grassley’s office, the Capitol Police replied: “This is a public space, open to the people, and we cannot stop them from exercising their right of speech and assembly”). Jonathan Turley – One year ago, in the face of allegations of drunken sexual assaults in high school and college, then Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee and angrily declared that confirmations had turned into a “national disgrace” that “replaced advice and consent with search and destroy.”
It was a performance that left most everyone enraged, some for Kavanaugh and others against him. However, Kavanaugh was confirmed, and he promised that he would put the matter behind him. His critics made no such promises. Indeed, various Democratic members of Congress called for continued investigations and even impeachment at the time of his swearing in ceremony last fall.
Now, Justice Kavanaugh has been hit with a new allegation by the New York Times, that he exposed himself at a party at Yale and that reporters found additional corroboration for a similar account raised by former Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez. The news was only a few hours old when Democratic candidates lined up to call for his immediate impeachment, despite little information on the basis or support for the allegation. Continue reading
