The War on Weed Is Winding Down – But Will Monsanto Be the Winner?

cannabisEllen Brown – The war on cannabis that began in the 1930s seems to be coming to an end. Research shows that this natural plant, rather than posing a deadly danger to health, has a wide range of therapeutic benefits. But skeptics question the sudden push for legalization, which is largely funded by wealthy investors linked to Big Ag and Big Pharma.

In April, Pennsylvania became the 24th state to legalize medical cannabis, a form of the plant popularly known as marijuana. That makes nearly half of US states. A major barrier to broader legalization has been the federal law under which all cannabis – even the very useful form known as industrial hemp – is classed as a Schedule I controlled substance that cannot legally be grown in the US. But that classification could change soon. In a letter sent to federal lawmakers in April, the US Drug Enforcement Administration said it plans to release a decision on rescheduling marijuana in the first half of 2016.

The presidential candidates are generally in favor of relaxing the law. In November 2015, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced a bill that would repeal all federal penalties for possessing and growing the plant, allowing states to establish their own marijuana laws. Hillary Clinton would not go that far but would drop cannabis from a Schedule I drug (a deadly dangerous drug with no medical use and high potential for abuse) to Schedule II (a deadly dangerous drug with medical use and high potential for abuse). Republican candidate Donald Trump says we are losing badly in the war on drugs, and that to win that war all drugs need to be legalized.

7 Plants & Herbs That Heal Respiratory Infections & Soothe The Lungs

Collective Evolution – Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician, was right when he pronounced, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” This has been confirmed by decades of research showing the healing power of food, as well as, inversely, its potential to cause some serious health problems. So many diseases, as well as the exponential rise in chronic disease in recent decades, can be linked to our eating habits today.

We live in a world full of pesticides, antibiotic-laced meats, and processed foods that are manufactured to be addicting. On top of this, the birth and rise of chemical-based medicine has completely wiped out natural remedies that seem to be more effective. Chemical-based medicine, according to many, is also responsible for the massive rise in various diseases.

As Glenn A. Warner, MD, former head of the immunotherapy department of the Tumor Institute under Orliss Wildermuth, MD, writes: “We have a multi-billion dollar industry that is killing people, right and left, just for financial gain. Their idea of doing research is to see whether two doses of this poison is better than three doses of that poison.”

This is precisely why Dr. Richard Horton, the current editor-in-chief of The Lancet – considered to be one of the most well respected peer-reviewed medical journals in the world — recently  published a statement declaring that a lot of published research is in fact unreliable at best, if not completely false:

The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness. Dr. Marcia Angell, a physician and longtime Editor in Chief of The New England Medical Journal (NEMJ), which is considered to another one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals in the world, makes her view of the subject quite plain:

It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine. (source)

It is highly unlikely that a doctor would prescribe you a daily dose of celery rather than pills to lower your blood pressure, despite the fact that some foods, like celery, have been shown scientifically and experimentally to have amazing results…

That being said, below is a list of 10 plants and herbs that can heal respiratory infections, boost lung health, and repair pulmonary damage. They can be done by vaporizing different herbs, making it into tea, or through other forms of ingesting it.

Marijuana Enlightenment

MedicalMarijuanaShopI didn’t trust the process when it first appeared, so I opted out and have been avoiding it ever since.  Even when those around me, including my best friend embraced it; I kept my distance.  For over five years I’ve refused to climb on the bandwagon; but recently the universal law of three caught up to me, and I finally went to get my medical marijuana card.  Within less than two weeks, three different sources encouraged me to get the card, including my new primary care physician at the VA.  Yup, the universe was speaking to me in no uncertain terms; time to change.

It isn’t that I thought the whole idea was wrong or anything, just the opposite; I’ve been a supporter of legalized marijuana for years, but I don’t feel like the government has any right to register me as a cannabis user, (considering how well that went for native Americans!)  If I sound like a dinosaur it’s because I’ve been smoking the weed for almost fifty years, and for the majority of that time doing so illegally.  Not only did many of America’s founding fathers grow hemp, for a time it citizens were required to grow hemp.  You see, over the years the U.S. government has had a love/hate relationship with hemp; they want to tie up the ships without turning on the troops.

Cannabis has long been hailed as a medicinal healing herb, in fact the Sears catalog of 1853 carried several cannabis based medicines you could order.  In 1937 the Marijuana Tax Act essentially made using the weed legal, if you had the right paperwork.  This continued till 1969 when it was thrown out because it violated the fifth amendment.  During WWII; American farmers received draft deferments for themselves and their sons; if  they grew hemp.   Henry Ford once designed and made a car out of hemp.  It was 30% lighter and 10 times as strong as steel.  It was never produced because of pressure from the competition, who couldn’t compete with it.  For very similar reasoning, the AMA has led the charge against legalizing marijuana, despite evidence that hemp cures cancer.  The pharmaceutical industry isn’t interested in a cure for cancer because their profits come from selling treatment, not cures.
