DHS Secretary: “Shocking” I Have to Explain That Throwing Rocks At Officers is Bad

NielsenShawn– In a statement released on Monday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said it was “shocking” that she had to explain to the media why Border Patrol officers needed to protect themselves from violent migrants hurling rocks and other projectiles at them in an effort to storm the border. Nielsen was unapologetic in her defense of the Border Patrol’s use of tear gas, saying it was time for the media and the American people to become aware of some myths currently circulating about the caravans camped out in Tijuana.

“I refuse to believe that anyone honestly maintains that attacking law enforcement with rocks and projectiles is acceptable,” Nielsen said in her statement. “It is shocking that I have to explain this, but officers can be seriously or fatally injured in such attacks. Self-defense isn’t debatable for most law-abiding Americans.” Continue reading

Caravan Migrants Carrying Communicable Diseases

caravanRusty – A pair of reports show that President Trump and his backers were right to question whether the caravan trying to breach the U.S. border could contain violent criminals as well as infectious diseases.

The media has consistently portrayed the President as a bloviator, launching hyperbolic warnings about the threat represented by this mob of migrants.

Fox News Shepard Smith, for example, downplayed the threat, saying “There is no invasion. No one’s coming to get you. There’s nothing at all to worry about.”

It turns out the ‘invasion’ involves communicable diseases and gang members.

“You’re going to find MS-13, you’re going to find Middle Eastern, you’re going to find everything,” the President predicted in late October, as the caravan was still hundreds of miles outside the border. Continue reading

The Caravan: Rules During an Invasion

rulesWilliam L. Gensert – The presumption of innocence, a foundational principle, instituted by the founding fathers in our founding document, the Constitution, has evaporated faster than a bead of sweat on Christine Blasey Ford’s brow as she awaits a flight to French Polynesia for one of her many surfing vacations.

One rule shot to hell.

What of rules?  Why do we have them?  Wouldn’t it be nice if we were allowed to park our cars wherever we chose to, at our convenience, even if it were in a place that through our ignorance, or inconsideration, resulted in blocking a street at just the moment an ambulance came along, trying to get help to a man who had a heart attack down the block?  Humans, left to our own considerations, can be considerably inconsiderate when it comes to others.  It’s too simple to write this off to cruelty or evil; it’s just that in life, we look at what we need and want first and do not always consider how our needs and wants affect others.
