DEA To 22-Year Old Traveler: Thanks, I’ll Take That Cash

RiversJoline Gutierrez Krueger – Maybe he should have taken traveler’s checks.

But it’s too late for that now. All the money – $16,000 in cash – that Joseph Rivers said he had saved and relatives had given him to launch his dream in Hollywood is gone, seized during his trip out West not by thieves but by Drug Enforcement Administration agents during a stop at the Amtrak train station in Albuquerque.

An incident some might argue is still theft, just with the government’s blessing.

Rivers, 22, wasn’t detained and has not been charged with any crime since his money was taken last month.

That doesn’t matter. Under a federal law enforcement tool called civil asset forfeiture, he need never be arrested or convicted of a crime for the government to take away his cash, cars or property – and keep it.

Agencies like the DEA can confiscate money or property if they have a hunch, a suspicion, a notion that maybe, possibly, perhaps the items are connected with narcotics. Or something else illegal.

Or maybe the fact that the person holding a bunch of cash is a young black man is good enough.

“What this is, is having your money stolen by a federal agent acting under the color of law,” said Michael Pancer, a San Diego attorney who represents Rivers, an aspiring music video producer. “It’s a national epidemic. If my office got four to five cases just recently, and I’m just one attorney, you know this is happening thousands of times.”

A Washington Post investigation last year found that local, state and federal agents nationwide have seized $2.5 billion in cash from almost 62,000 people since 2001 – without warrants or indictments. It’s unknown how many got their money back. Continue reading

Thieving Bankers Operate In Open; Public Have Eyes Wide Shut

cashMichael Noonan – Who are the bankers?  There are those known, doing a lot of dirty work, and there are those unknown, operating totally behind the scenes controlling everything, doing even dirtier work.  What does that mean, controlling everything?  How about the world’s money supply, creating it, deciding who gets what and how it is to be spent.

How has a lot of the money been spent?  Acquiring politicians, which means controlling governments and the political partied that make up governments.  Bankers have paid for and gained control of the entire pharmaceutical industry, the  AMA [American Medical Association], all of the huge Agri-business, controlling the like of Monsanto and GMOs.  Bankers control the entire media industry, everything you watch on TV, hear on the radio, read in the newspapers and magazines, control over everything they want you to hear and read.  The entire educational system is run by the government.  Everything is done under the watchful eyes of the bankers.  Nothing gets done without their approval.

No where is there any oversight.  Nowhere does the rule of law apply, unless you happen to be in traffic court or have committed a crime, but for the bankers, no one in the Obama Administration has been able to uncover any crimes.

What about control of your finances? Continue reading

The Banksters War On Cash

James Hall  – Once upon a time, the famous criminal Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, and his response was simple, eloquent, and humorous: “Because that’s where the money is.” Well, soon that adage may be proven untrue. What exactly is the meaning of legal tender?  In order to place money in its proper perspective, examine what the U.S. Treasury says.

“The pertinent portion of law that applies to your question is the Coinage Act of 1965, specifically Section 31 U.S.C. 5103, entitled “Legal tender,” which states: “United States coins and currency (including Federal reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal reserve banks and national banks) are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues.”

Now one might reasonably expect that conducting cash transactions would be guaranteed by the full weight and protection of the Federal Government. Such an assumption would be false, since the Banksters operate as a power beyond the law. The Zero Hedge report in Largest Bank In America Joins War On Cash, reveals a frightening trend.cash

“The war on cash is escalating. Just a week ago, the infamous Willem Buiter, along with Ken Rogoff, voiced their support for a restriction (or ban altogether) on the use of cash (something that was already been implemented in Louisiana in 2011 for used goods). Today, as Mises’ Jo Salerno reports, the war has acquired a powerful new ally in Chase, the largest bank in the U.S., which has enacted a policy restricting the use of cash in selected markets; bans cash payments for credit cards, mortgages, and auto loans; and disallows the storage of “any cash or coins” in safe deposit boxes.” Continue reading
