WND Staff – A professor who grew up in communist Romania has revealed that he quit his tenured position at Columbia University in New York City because the Ivy League school is “on its way toward full blown communism.”

Prof. Andrei Serban, an award-winning director who taught in the theater department, recalled the “social justice” demands that prompted his move in a Romanian TV interview translated by a Romanian-American immigrant, the College Fix reported.

In one instance, he was told as the chairman of a faculty hiring committee that he could not chose a heterosexual married man like himself, even if that person was the most qualified for the job. Continue reading

Columbia vs Columbia: A Tale of Two Americas

Wayne Allyn Root – I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Because now that the holiday is over, it’s time to tell the truth. And it’s not pretty. America is a badly divided nation.

I believe you can sum up the divide in America by studying Columbia vs Columbia. That’s the bridge too far. That’s what is driving the strife, vitriol and hatred in American politics.

white privilegeI attended Columbia University, Class of 1983. But I will forever be a SOB (son of a butcher). I’m proud to say I don’t think like any of my classmates at Columbia. I was a witness to how Ivy Leaguers think about America. Not all, but the overwhelming majority.

The kids I met at Columbia were mostly rich kids. They were raised with everything handed to them on a silver platter. The result? Massive guilt and dysfunction. Almost every one of my Columbia classmates proudly described themselves as either socialists, communists, or Marxists. They all spoke nonstop about their hatred for America and capitalism. They did not believe in “American exceptionalism.” Rather they wanted America to be punished for “colonial imperialism.” Continue reading

Mainstream Media Gets ‘Science’ Talking Points From A Convicted Felon Who Went To Prison For Medicaid Fraud

In recent days, Columbia University’s School of Journalism announced its 2015 Pulitzer Prize winners, and the list contained many of the usual suspects.

letterThe New York Times picked up a couple more awards for a political corruption story, Ebola coverage and international reportage; The Wall Street Journal won for an investigative hit piece against healthcare providers who manipulate Medicare; the Los Angeles Times won for reporting how the state’s extreme drought has affected the “human condition”; a smaller South Carolina paper won a prize for reporting violence against women; the St. Louis Post-Dispatch picked up a Pulitzer for photography during the Ferguson riots; some guy won the Poetry Pulitzer for revealing the “scope of African-American experience” through poems that drew from “slave narratives.”

And so forth. In other words, these mainstream papers “went after” stories where reporters and editors had already decided the outcome, and as usual, Columbia University rewarded their pre-conceived orthodoxy as members of the journalistic “cool kids club.”

Dr. Oz no longer a “cool kid”

Why does this matter? Because it helps explain how a man like Dr. Oz could be so savagely attacked by a media so willing to pile on this suddenly not-so-cool kid without bothering to actually investigate the charges being made against him and, more importantly, by whom: When you’re out of “the club,” the cool kids have already decided you must be guilty as charged because that sounds about right.

As noted by U.S. Right to Know (USRTK), a non-profit organization advocating for more openness in the food industry, recent hit pieces against Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of a popular daytime television program that often focuses on bogus conventional health treatments and alternative medicine choices, were perpetrated willingly by a mainstream media too trusting of “establishment” medical sources, most likely because Dr. Oz doesn’t toe the cool club line. Natural Cancer Treatments Are Hidden From You – But Why?

NaturalSociety  May 3 2013

The recent Texas Medical Board attacks on Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, who has been highly successful at curing hopeless cancer victims in his Houston research clinic, brought to mind an interview quote from Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez. He referred to the cancer industry’s attitude toward treating cancer outside the medical mafia’s zone of standard care. “It’s beyond a double standard. It’s more like the twilight zone,” he exclaimed.

The Double Standard of Care Principle

Put simply, when alternative practitioners or pioneering MDs start having success treating cancer outside mainstream medical’s approved standard of care set by governing medical bureaucracies to appease Big Pharma, they are hounded, persecuted, or prosecuted, while information of their successes is withheld.

Meanwhile, hundreds if not thousands die at the hands of the medical system’s standard of care cancer treatments. A standard of care is a consensus guideline for treatments prescribed by medical board bureaucrats who comply with medical equipment and pharmaceutical companies’ demands to use their products only.

For cancer, it’s either cut (surgery), burn (radiation), or poison (chemotherapy). As long as those three are appropriately applied under standard of care guidelines, it doesn’t matter how many die or get sicker from the treatment, or how few survive in remission for five years.

Of course, with the 90% or more who die from cancer or the treatments, that’s just the way it goes. Nice try doctor. You’re protected from malpractice after discouraging your patient from seeking safer and more effective alternative treatment. Since you followed the standard of care guidelines, death by medicine is pardoned. Next patient please.
