Experts: Our drinking water contains massive doses of prescription drugs

– If you drink tap water, there’s a good chance you’re taking in all sorts of pharmaceutical drugs at the same time. Massive doses of prescription drugs pass through people’s bodies and into the sewage system. These chemicals are very stable and make their way back into the water supply, unchanged. If you don’t use appropriate, lab-validated water filters, you could be drinking a bizarre cocktail of drugs on a daily basis. Without even knowing it, you could be taking birth control, statins, SSRIs, psychotics, or any other popular chemical that is now pervasive in the water supply. These second hand medications could be interfering with your hormones, weight modulation, sleep patterns, temperament, cognitive function, ability to handle stress, etc.

We are all being drugged up through the tap

Not only are people dumping unused and outdated prescriptions down the sewage system, the pills they take also remain stable, even after passing through their bodies. With nearly half of men and women in England now taking prescription drugs on a regular basis, significant amounts are destined to remain active, ultimately resurfacing in tap water.

As more Americans increase their intake of pharmaceuticals, the amount left over in the water supply will only increase, adversely affecting others who choose not to take them. Antidepressants, painkillers, and statins are among the most popular prescribed medications and these all have known side effects. What happens when the human population is slowly inundated with a random cocktail of these drugs over time? What do these left overs do to the developing fetus? Are birth defects increasing due to silent pharmaceutical poisoning of their developmental process?

More than half a million Americans spend more than $50,000 a year just on prescription medications

drugsMike Adams – It’s no secret that various industries increase customer pricing so the company can make a profit. That’s Economics 101. However, when prices surge so exorbitantly that the average person can barely afford an item while the company walks all the way to the bank, that’s Greed 101. Sadly, absurdly elevated prices permeate the marketplace, draining the wallets and energy of people in droves, and it particularly impacts those in need of life-saving medications.

A restaurant’s appetizer platter or some trendy bracelet charms are one thing, but when it comes to improving the quality of human lives or even saving them, people often have no choice but to pay steep prices. If you want to live, or live better, you’ll need to either win the lottery or have saved your pennies since childhood. It’s not fair, but it’s a shocking reality.

An eye-opening look at how we’re being ripped off by drug companies

Look at the numbers:

Almost overnight, Turing Pharmaceuticals raised the price for Daraprim, a treatment that fights life-threatening parasitic infections from $13.50 per pill to a whopping $750 a pill. The company’s mogul, Martin Shkreli, justified this drastic increase by saying that it’s simply about keeping business going strong, and he even went so far as to say that the increase doesn’t deserve the widespread criticism it is receiving.

When it comes to treating leukemia, it has been estimated that the actual cost for a year’s supply of Gleevec (generic name imatinib), is an affordable $159. However, in the United States, it costs people suffering with the illness more than $106,000 annually; in the United Kingdom, it costs more than $30,000 each year.

The insanity continues. Continue reading

Eyes Wide Shut – Understanding The Modern Health Pandemic

drugsNiaby Codd – Pharmaceuticals and the lack of nutritional knowledge and understanding had been a growing concern of mine, ever since I developed my own health issues. A simple breakout of spots led to a 6 year health battle that was finally won when I made the decision to embrace a complete lifestyle change which included cutting out chemicals and toxins and switching to an organic, whole food, plant based diet. As is (unfortunately) the standard these days, instead of investigating what was causing the breakout of spots, my doctor simply handed me a prescription for antibiotics which they continued to prescribe for over a year.

Throughout this period, I went to my doctor with many health issues, most of which I later found out were side effects of the antibiotics but unfortunately I was uneducated on the subject at the time and did not make the link. More worrying, neither did the doctor who continued to prescribe the antibiotics without any further investigation into my symptoms.

As I later discovered, the antibiotics had annihilated my gut, leaving me deficient in the very vitamins and minerals essential for a healthy and effectively functioning immune system which, in turn, left me vulnerable and open to attack. When I had vaccinations to allow me to travel, my body was not able to fight off the live disease that had been injected into my system which then, undiagnosed, attacked and destroyed my already weakened immune system for many years to come.

Only when I moved to Hong Kong and found an incredible holistic doctor who was also a fully trained GP in conventional western medicine, did I start to get to the route cause of the problem. I was diagnosed with colitis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and exhausted adrenals, which led to me suffering from acute stress due to the fact that my body was not physically able to deal with the stress of normal life.

Instead of prescribing further pharmaceuticals, she worked to get me off of the ones that I had been previously prescribed, recognising the side effects that they were causing within my body and helped me to get a plan into place to get my body back into balance more naturally and gently by stripping out unnecessary toxins and implementing a more balanced diet in order to provide my body with the fuel that it needed to heal.

Whilst I do understand that it is an immense amount of training, this level of knowledge, understanding and expertise is what we should expect from all of our doctors but instead, we are just given a quick fix of drugs which often only treat the symptoms instead of getting to the root cause of the problem.

Eyes Wide Shut

Our current medical system does not understand or respect how our complex bodies work, nor does it even attempt to try to prevent illness. Dr Leigh Connealy MD and medical director of the Cancer Centre For Healing in California has said “doctor’s simply maintain a persons disease or illness with drugs instead of striving to create optimum health”.[1] Continue reading

The Big Business Of Cancer: 100 BILLION Dollars Was Spent On Cancer Drugs Last Year Alone

Michael Snyder – If you are an American, there is a 1 in 3 chance that you will get cancer during your lifetime.  If you are a man, the odds are closer to 1 in 2.  And almost everyone in America either knows someone who currently has cancer or who has already died from cancer.  But it wasn’t always this way.

drugsBack in the 1940s, only one out of every sixteen Americans would develop cancer.  Something has happened that has caused the cancer rate in this nation to absolutely explode, and it is being projected that cancer will soon surpass heart disease and become the leading cause of death in the United States.

Overall, the World Health Organization says that approximately 14 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed around the globe each year, and the number of new cases is expected to increase by about 70 percent over the next 2 decades.  There are very few words in the English language that cause more fear than the word “cancer,” but despite billions spent on research and all of the technological progress we have made over the years this plague just continues to spiral wildly out of control.  Why is that?

In America today, more money is spent to treat cancer than to treat any other disease by far.  In fact, according to NBC News, 100 BILLION dollars was spent on cancer drugs just last year alone…

As drug prices continue to fall under ever-increasing scrutiny, spending on cancer medicines has hit a new milestone: $100 billion in 2014. Continue reading

How Modern Symptom-Based Medicine Can Make the Sick, Sicker

“The average person 65 years or older in the United States takes an average of 15+ medications a day, each and every day of their lives. And only the first 1 or 2 drugs are actually prescribed to deal with the original symptoms.” – M Be

The advancement of modern science and technology has allowed for ways of studying the incredibly small and the commensurably big. Technical capabilities for research make possibilities endless, but private funding means that our great scientists work in silos, answering to competitive economic interests. Sadly, the system as a whole has been forgotten.

Modern medicine has roots in the Hippocratic, Newtonian and Cartesian school of thought, also referred to as reductionism. Though this way of relating to the world, philosophers and scientists defined the universe as a great machine; a complex system that is nothing but the sum of its parts, an account of which can be reduced to accounts of its individual constituents (1). Likewise, early physicians began to define the human body as a machine, studying it by breaking it down into independent parts, losing touch with the study of the whole.

According to this paradigm, the body could be analyzed, catalogued, adjusted, and repaired in parts, as required — just like any other machine. Disease was no longer viewed as a body state (much less an energetic state) but merely as a set of symptoms. From this foundation, modern medicine has become the observation, classification and management of individual symptoms, without seeking to understand the body as an holistic entity (2). Meanwhile, rates of sickness, disease and over-medication are steadily increasing.

Consider the following…
