Why Chris Hedges Supports Dr. Jill Stein for President

Dr. Jill Stein

Chris Hedges – The political crisis in America is severe. The old ideas that buttressed the ruling class and promised democracy, growth and prosperity—neoliberalism, austerity, globalization, endless war, a dependence on fossil fuel and unregulated capitalism—have been exposed as fictions used by the corporate elite to impoverish and enslave the country and enrich and empower themselves. Sixty-two billionaires have as much wealth as half the world’s population, 3.5 billion people. This fact alone is revolutionary tinder.

We are entering a dangerous moment when few people, no matter what their political orientation, trust the power elite or the ruling neoliberal ideology. The rise of right-wing populism, with dark undertones of fascism, looks set in the next presidential election—as it does in parts of Europe—to pit itself against the dying gasps of the corporate establishment.

We are caught between the jaws of the monsters Charybdis and Scylla, and our escape route is narrow and diminishing. Playing the old political game, attempting reform using the old rules, won’t work. We must focus exclusively on revolt, on overthrowing corporate power to reclaim our liberty and save the planet from a coup de grâce delivered by the fossil fuel industry.

If we fail to revolt we will see the numerous mechanisms for control enshrined in our system of inverted totalitarianism—wholesale surveillance, militarized police empowered to use lethal force against unarmed citizens, the loss of nearly all civil liberties, the impoverishment of the majority of the citizenry in the name of austerity, the use of the military as a domestic police force, indefinite detention without trial, government-ordered assassination of American citizens—spread like a wildfire across the landscape.

Trump: will the powers-that-be destroy him?

trumpJon Rappoport – Trump. He’s for real. No he isn’t. He means what he says. No he doesn’t. He’s a joke. He’s serious. He’s a liberator. No, he’s the next Mussolini. He’s sane and lucid. He’s off his rocker. He cares about people. He’s a racist. He’ll take American back where it belongs. He’ll drive it over a cliff.

Whatever you think about the man, his campaign has just acquired a new level of reality, after his victory in South Carolina. And the people who were looking to destroy him have greater reason to pursue their goal.

I’m not just talking about the Republican Party bosses. I’m talking about the Rockefeller Globalists, who are watching Trump attack their trade treaties, as he vows to bring jobs back to America. Those treaties are the Globalists’ holy of holies. They’re portals to an emerging world of much deeper poverty and suffering—and as such they’re vital to a new grotesque Globalist planetary order.

Trump now has a straight shot at the Republican nomination. Apparently, nothing he says, short of claiming God and Jesus are fairy tales, will affect his poll numbers.

One line of attack against him would occur at the nominating convention. If the GOP honchos, by hook or by crook, can keep Rubio and Cruz in the race, they might be able to enter the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, in July, with split numbers—no clear winner. After that split vote holds up on the first ballot, all bets are off. The brokers will move in and start making deals behind the scenes. Delegates can switch their positions.

The main target would be Cruz. Promise him the moon; get him to release his delegates and declare he favors Rubio, who is the GOP’s man. Rubio is who the Party bosses want.

But if Cruz stands firm, and if two or three more ballots fail to produce a winner, then the GOP would do a switch and tell Rubio that, for the sake of the Party, he has to fall on his sword and instruct his delegates to line up for Cruz. In other words, the GOP will do anything to stop Trump, including losing the general election.

America’s Farcical Political Season Rolls On

campaignStephen Lendman –  America’s Big Money-controlled political process is hopelessly corrupted – mocking democratic legitimacy. None exists.

Duopoly power one-party-rule with two wings excludes it – independents entirely shut out, voters having no say whatever.

Primary season is pure theater with no substance. Voters thinking their choice matters in all US elections are delusional. Believing otherwise is pure fantasy.

Media scoundrels, notably deplorable US cabal television, feature horserace politics exclusively, along with shamelessly bashing non-establishment candidates.

Major world and national issues go unaddressed. A truth emergency leaves people uninformed about what they most need to know. Tracking polls focusing on electability substitute for vital news, information and analysis.

Scandalous media reporting undermines public trust in a hopelessly corrupted system – why half the electorate or more most often opts out. When voting is a waste of time, why bother.

Trump won South Carolina’s primary decisively, taking all 44 delegates, getting nearly a third of the votes cast.

What Are We Smelling?

votingDmitry Orlov – So far I have mostly tried to ignore the US presidential race. It’s a distraction from doing things that are either pleasant or useful—of which it is neither. I haven’t always tried to completely ignore these torrents of nonsense that erupt every four years like a gushing sewer, but, in general, I was never interested in the outcome, because in all but one case I genuinely disliked all of the candidates. Jimmy Carter is the only one whose hand I would shake. I wouldn’t want to breathe the same air with any of the others—all lizard-brained miscreants who have left a slimy trail through the White House.

As I understand it, the way this system is supposed to work is as follows. There is just one good, solid reason to vote for the Democratic candidate: to keep out the Republicans, who are so much worse than the Democrats. And there is just one good, solid reason to vote for the Republican candidate: to keep out the Democrats, who are so much worse than the Republicans. Now, you may ask yourself, How is it possible for both sides to be worse at the same time? Well, you are right, that’s not possible. Obviously, they have to take turns at becoming the worst. Whoever happens to be in office adds another turn to the downward spiral.

This seems like a good, solid arrangement—if the goal is to produce the most bloated, corrupt, criminal, warmongering, terrorist-coddling, bankrupt government the Earth has ever known—it is, indeed, all of these things. But it has just one tiny flaw: getting people to vote for you by teaching them to hate the other side is effective, but it’s purely negative.

America’s Deplorable State

changeStephen Lendman – Campaigning for November elections is in full swing – meaningless theater without substance, most Americans mindless about a money-controlled process too corrupted to fix.

Republicans are no different from Democrats. All duopoly power candidates are cookie cutouts of each other.

Otherwise they wouldn’t be so-called presidential material. They’re carefully vetted to assure it. No outliers accepted. Don’t let their deceptive rhetoric fool you.

No current major party aspirant has any intention of changing the dirty system. Sanders’ call for revolutionary change is a complete hoax. His public office record proves it.

He and other aspirants are in lockstep on all issues mattering most. Campaign promises are duplicitous, made to be broken every time, the public consistently betrayed.

America is owned and run by powerful elitist interests. Political and bureaucratic officials serve them. Elections when held are farcical, bread and circuses deception changing nothing. Continue reading
