What Is Monsanto Hiding In Secret Documents?

“Let’s have a federal court where the judge pretends the lawyers for the defense are fully informed about the facts of the case. The plaintiff, a giant corporation, pretends it’s concerned about the safety of the public. The press pretends it’s covering the court case. Activists for the public who live more than a hundred miles away from the courthouse pretend they care about what happens. The overwhelming number of federal employees don’t even know there is a case. The defendants, who are being poisoned by the giant corporation, at one time lived on their land in an undisturbed way—until outsiders, whose descendants now control the court, took away the land by force. Perfect justice, correct? Absolutely no problem.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport)

Jon Rappoport – Two days ago, I reported on a scandal occurring in the Monsanto vs. Maui court case:

MonsantoNamely, heavily redacted documents, which Monsanto has offered to the court in defense of its position that it should be allowed to continue toxic pesticide and GMO experiments in Maui County.

Federal Judge Susan Oki Mollway, who will decide the case, has read the full unredacted versions of these Monsanto documents—but the lawyers representing the people of Maui have not. And they can’t. The blacked-out information is off-limits to them.

This means they can’t argue their case with full knowledge. They’re hamstrung. To conclude this situation is unfair and illegitimate is a vast understatement.

A scientist familiar with this court case has commented to me about the current situation.

Monsanto Profits Fall Another 15% In April 2015

Monsanto stock price continues sharp decline

Anthony Gucciardi – Monsanto is continuing to lose profits into the second quarter of 2015, shedding an exceptional 15% profit amid falling GMO seed sales — even more than most experts projected.

monsanto

In fact, many backers were absolutely certain that Monsanto would regain its footing after losing millions in last year’s fourth quarter. Some economists believed that Monsanto’s ‘tried and true’ strategy of pushing GMO seeds on farmers would sustain them into the first quarter of 2015. Before the latest announcement of financial loss, I predicted that Monsanto would in fact continue to lose money, as both the agricultural industry and consumers at large take a major stand against anything to do with the company:

“Going further into 2015, it’s clear that this GMO behemoth has many more obstacles to face that will most likely lead to a continued loss… That said, it is clear to me that Monsanto’s continued decline is in full swing.”

The Wall Street Journal reports on Monsanto’s loss in the latest piece entitled ‘Monsanto Profit Falls 15% on Weak Sales, Stronger Dollar,’ which reads:

“Monsanto Co. said its earnings fell 15% in its fiscal second quarter, missing analysts’ expectations as corn-seed sales weakened and a stronger U.S. dollar pressured results.”

And outside of government assistance (remember the USDA fast-tracking their testing process just to give Monsanto speedy approval?) or a new multi-mullion dollar brainwashing campaign to defeat GMO labeling initiatives that keep popping up around the nation that uses even more deception than ever before, it’s clear that Monsanto will continue on a downward slope. Granted, these things are most certainly possible. Continue reading

Monsanto’s Deep Legacy Of Corruption And Cover-Up

The History of a CHEMICAL company

monsantoBarbara Minton ~ From 1929 until 1995, Monsanto operated a chemical plant in the small town of Nitro, West Virginia, where it manufactured Agent Orange. In 1949, a pressure valve blew on a tank of the herbicide, sending plumes of smoke and vapors containing dioxin throughout the town, coating residents and the homes they lived in with powdery residue.

In a short time, some people developed skin eruptions and were diagnosed with an enduring and disfiguring condition known as chloracne. Others had prolonged pain extending from their chest to their feet. According to a medical report following the explosion, “It caused a systemic intoxication in the workers involving most major organ systems.”

Monsanto’s reaction? The company down-played it, claiming the chemical was slow-acting and just a minor irritant.

To get rid of the dioxin, the company dumped it into storm drains, streams and sewers, and stored it in landfills. Dioxin persisted in waterways and in the fish that lived in them. When residents sued for damages, they were told by Monsanto that their allegations had no merit and that the company would defend itself vigorously.

The residents of Nitro or their descendants finally received $93 million from Monsanto in 2012.

PCBs Contaminate the Town of Anniston, Alabama

PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) are used in many industries as hydraulic fluids, sealants, and lubricants. These chemicals have been demonstrated to cause cancer, as well as a variety of other adverse health effects on the immune, reproductive, nervous, and endocrine systems. Continue reading

Record US Farmers Switching to Non-GMO Crops in 2015

“Non-GMO is More Profitable.”

NonGMO-CornTestSiteThis is the rising sentiment among farmers of the US as a confluence of factors urges them to become pro-organic. From falling GMO grain prices to a rising tide of public distrust of genetically modified ingredients, failing GMO traits, higher GMO seed prices, and the premium prices that people willingly pay for quality food over toxic junk, the conventional farmer is changing his tune when it comes to Big Ag practices.

Even if profit is the cornerstone on which this change is based, it is still telling. After all, experts project over $35 billion in sales for organic, non-GMO foods in 2015, and as GMO corn, soy and other GM grain prices rise, along with the costs to grow them (associated with more pesticide and herbicide use to control super weeds, for example) farmers are looking past the GMO propaganda which promised higher yields and more cash for farmers who grew their poison crops.

This phenomenon is explained clearly in  “The Genetic Engineering of Food and the Failure of Science” (full text available for download here) published in The International Journal of Sociology of Agriculture and Food.
