McCabe Alleges Other DOJ Officials Leaked To Media And Questions Comey’s Value As Witness

mccabeJonathan Turley – Former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe responded angrily to the finding of the Inspector General report and notably attacked the recollection of former FBI Director James Comey as a witness.

As I discussed in an earlier column, McCabe raised over a half million dollars on GoFundMe before the release of the report showing that he repeatedly made false statements to investigators as well as Comey.  The report by Inspector General Michael Horowitz, appointed by President Barack Obama is blistering and says that McCabe intentionally lied to protect his image and record.  McCabe lashed out at the career officials behind the report and said Comey’s countervailing memory should not be given much credence.

The report found McCabe was the source of the leak to The Wall Street Journal about an FBI probe of the Clinton Foundation. McCabe previously said that Comey was informed of the leak and that it was routine.  The report says it was not routine and was not in “the public interest.”  Rather it found it was in McCabe’s interest. DOJ Admits They Have a Grand Jury Empaneled in FBI and DOJ Investigation…

evidenceSundance – Today chairman Bob Goodlatte sends a formal subpoena to the DOJ (Inspector General Michael Horowitz) for documents regarding the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server, potential abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility recommendation to fire former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

However, it’s not the subpoena that should make the news.  Pay close attention to the DOJ response.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) is one of the top three people throughout the entirety of congress with a comprehensive knowledge of the events surrounding the investigations of the FBI and DOJ. Chairman Goodlatte is one of only four people outside the DOJ who have read the full DOJ FISA application used for a Title-1 Surveillance warrant of Carter Page. Continue reading

Jeff Sessions Affirms Inspector General Review of FISA Court Abuse by Dept. of Justice…

Sundance – Earlier today Attorney General Jeff Sessions held a press briefing to announce the opioid task force (video below).  During the Q&A segment of the presser, Fox News Catherine Herridge asked AG Sessions if the FISA court abuses outlined by Chairman Devin Nunes, Chairman Bob Goodlatte and Chairman Chuck Grassley would be investigated by the DOJ.

Attorney General Sessions affirms the FISA court abuse by the DOJ and FBI will indeed be investigated and prosecuted and directed attention to Inspector General Michael Horowitz. [watch at 37:57 of video – prompted]

However, this statement by Jeff Sessions IS NOT NEWS.  This is exactly what those who have followed closely will note has been the direction since mid-year 2017.  As AG Sessions affirms, IG Horowitz is NOT limited in scope.  Horowitz is investigating *all* avenues of politicization within the DOJ and FBI and abuse therein; this includes FISA abuse.
