Rachel Stevenson – As President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth helped ring in the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday this weekend, you’d think the folks at MSNBC had just witnessed a unicorn riding a Harley Davidson across the National Mall. Instead of the usual hand-wringing and “danger to democracy” monologues, they were left stunned — yes, stunned — that the celebration didn’t erupt into flames of fascism and doom.
Chris Hayes, bless his heart, looked positively flummoxed on live television. He struggled to reconcile the warm, patriotic vibe of the event with the image MSNBC has worked so hard to craft: Trump supporters as snarling, torch-wielding goons looking for the nearest Constitution to shred.
