New Heights of No Confidence in Government

The legislature is at a record disapproval as Gallup announced that Congress had reached a new low, winning the approval of just 9% of the American public. In addition, President Obama is in the same boat. A Christian Science Monitor reports that Obama disapproval rating hits new high in two polls. “An NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey found that 54 percent of respondents did not approve of the job President Obama is doing, and Quinnipiac found 57 percent disapproval.” Both branches of federal government register public discontent.

Even with such low confidence in Congress, the most telling sentiment is expressed in the Fox poll, Voters don’t like President Obama bypassing Congress.

“The new poll finds that 74 percent think the president using executive orders to get around Congress is not how things are supposed to work in our country. That includes 54 percent of Democrats.”

This critical attitude illustrates that America is supposed to be governed under laws passed by a representative legislature, and not by fiat directives of an imperial president. The bipartisan disfavor of the House and Senate stems primarily from the unwillingness of a Harry Reid run Senate that refuses to negotiate with an all too often submissive RINO Republican leadership.
