Hillary Jumps on the Dobbs Bandwagon

Hillary Jumps on the Dobbs BandwagonDoris O’Brien – With the inexorable march of time, Hillary Clinton’s cheekiness has been matched by a set of sagging jowls that seem to vibrate with anticipation at being back in the political fold.  While some might say she turns up like the proverbial bad penny, Ms. Clinton clearly sees herself as coin of the realm.

Hillary requires no lectures from the likes of former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel on how never to let a crisis go to waste. As a perennial Queen of Crises, she understands that the deeper a country is plunged into chaos and the wider the ideological rift between its people, the more malleable it becomes to the strongarm tactics of political will. The Calamity Janes

The Calamity JanesRick Fuentes – June 24, 2022 was a momentous day for both life and democracy. The SCOTUS decision in Dobbs, hardly a cliffhanger by standards of the Roberts court, sent the issue of abortion back to the states where it belonged and put the endemic malevolence and selective outrage of the Democrat party on full display. Before that anticipated decision, Democrats were already circling the wagons, huddling into a troop of see-no-evil monkeys and averting the glare of political violence in plain sight.

Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, who have issued an ideological fatwa against MAGA voters using the January 6th Commission, pushed the pause button long enough to promote insurrection against a branch of government. They did so despite understanding that inflammatory rants over the Dobbs decision could spur weak-minded individuals such as Nicholas Roske to action.

The World Turns as Roe V. Wade is Overturned

Roe v Wade overturnedThe Sharp Edge – “Roe was on a collision course with the Constitution from the day it was decided,” remarked Justice Alito in the opinion of the Court, which overturned Roe by a 5-4 ruling.  The opinion continued, “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.

Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences.  And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division.”  The 79-page opinion delivered by Justice Alito, which was joined by Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett, declares, “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives. Making the Constitution Great Again

Making the Constitution Great AgainBrian C Joondeph, MD – Diana Ross and the Supremes were one of the biggest Motown musical groups in the 1960s. By 1970 they went their separate ways, but this past week, their informal namesakes scored a mega-hit. Not singing catchy pop tunes, but by dancing in their black robes, singing glory and praise to the United States Constitution, making it great again.

I speak of the US Supreme Court, finding their constitutional voices on two major issues that have polarized and divided Americans for decades. SCOTUS was not created to make law or decide controversial social or policy issues. In a constitutional republic, those issues are decided by the people, or their elected representatives, not by unelected, lifetime appointed judges. Continue reading
