The Gift of Cultivating Spaciousness

spaciousnessMary O’Malley – “Spaciousness.” Let what that word evokes fill your whole being. Perhaps say it out loud in a long, drawn out way.  This is how you feel when you have just fallen in love and your loved one can’t do anything wrong, even if he or she squeezes the toothpaste from the center!  Nothing seems to bother you. Why?  Because your heart is open and you have stepped into the world of spaciousness.

Now, six months into the new relationship, it drives you crazy that the toothpaste is not squeezed from the bottom.  This is because your conditioned self takes over again bringing tightness and reaction instead of spaciousness. Continue reading

The Meadow of Your Being

lightMary O’Malley – Imagine a beautiful meadow where there is a rainbow of wildflowers, along with the heart-opening music of birds. The smells of the heather and the pristine beauty of the surrounding mountains all bring forth a deep sense of peace. In this meadow, everything is energy, everything flows and is at peace.

The same is true for you. You may have no memories of this kind of well-being but there was a time when you were very young where there were no thoughts in your head. Past and future had no meaning for you, so this moment was all there was. Because you weren’t searching for a better state, you were open to it – all of it – and life was okay exactly as it was.

The Healing of a Spacious View

lifeMary O’Malley – What if we could see this time on our planet as a break through time rather than a break down time?  It certainly looks like so many things are in chaos and there is a threat of it all blowing up.

But what would happen if you understood that everything human beings have done up to this point has prepared us for this time? We have explored the depth and breadth of this beautiful planet all the way from the freezing cold of the Antarctic to the blazing heat of the Gobi Desert.  We have gone from the heights of mountains to the depths of the oceans and we have explored every nook and cranny in the human body.  We have also gone into the world of the mind and the ever-changing ocean of the human psyche. Cultivating Spaciousness

Mary O’Malley – Spaciousness. Let what that word evokes fill your whole being. Perhaps say it out loud in a long, drawn out way.

When you were very young, you lived in spaciousness. Life danced through you. Then slowly, as you reacted to the challenges in your life, you got tighter and smaller until you ended up in a bubble of struggle.  This is where most people live, cut off from being fully alive!

We all long to be awake to Life.  We long for the spaciousness of being, for it is our natural state.  In order to see this, recognize that Life loves spaciousness, in fact, it permeates Life.  Take a moment to open to the vastness all around you.

Do Nothing and Be Everything

This may be perhaps the best advice I have ever received in my entire life.

It goes against everything that we have all been taught to become someone successful in life. Yet, each time when I truly let go and do absolutely nothing, expecting no results from existence, I suddenly discover a spaciousness inside me where I slowly become one with everything and everyone.

Whenever you are today and whatever you do with your time, just take a few moments to sit and reflect on this possibility to let go of doing and become this sitting, relaxed, stillness, that is breathing.

Be open to something new and you just might discover the most amazing experience available on Earth.

Who knew that being nothing would feel ohhh sooooo good!
