5 Uses for Spent Coffee Grounds

Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world. It’s grown in over 70 countries and amounts to over 16 billion pounds of beans every year. That’s a lot of beans… and when they’re only used once and thrown away, it also amounts to a huge amount of waste.

If you drink a lot of coffee or have worked in a coffee house, you have probably looked at the massive amount of coffee grounds being thrown away after one use and wondered, “isn’t there something these can be used for?” You’re not alone, researchers all over the world have wondered the same thing and explored the issue. The good news — spent coffee grounds DO have value! What potential uses for used coffee grounds have been found?

1. Remove Lead from Water

Researchers at Japan’s Kinki University investigated the possibility of using coffee grounds to remove lead from drinking water and found that, indeed, not only was it possible, but that it actually worked quite well. [1] The prospect of using coffee grounds, an overly abundant waste item, for a purpose as beneficial as removing lead from drinking water is an exciting idea!

2. Biodiesel Production

You may have heard of diesel vehicles being converted to run on discarded grease from fast food restaurants, wouldn’t it be great if discarded coffee grounds could also be used as a source of energy? Perhaps they can.

The Archons – Alien Invaders From Space [Video]

UFOTVstudios June 26 2011 (Thanks, Kevin)

THE GREAT UNMENTIONABLE EVIL at the center of our culture is monotheism. From a barbaric Bronze Age text known as the Old Testament, three anti-human religions have evolved—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These are sky-god religions. They are, literally, patriarchal—God is the Omnipotent Father—hence the loathing of women for 2,000 years in those countries afflicted by the sky-god and his earthly male delegates.

“The sky-god is a jealous god, of course. He requires total obedience from everyone on earth, as he is not just in place for one tribe, but for all creation. Those who would reject him must be converted or killed for their own good. Ultimately, totalitarianism is the only sort of politics that can truly serve the sky-god’s purpose.

“Any movement of a liberal nature endangers his authority and those of his delegates on earth. One God, one King, one Pope, one master in the factory, one father-leader in the family at home…”—Gore Vidal

Letting Things Pass In A Vampiric World

ZenGardner  September 23 2013

I’ve had a few weird mornings recently that extended into the day that seemed pretty different. Granted, things are fundamentally skewed in so many ways impressions are bound to frequently appear wonky at this juncture in history and cosmic change. But these sensations and accompanying thoughts I was getting were displaying a different aspect that wasn’t right.

I’ve learned not to stare  or fixate on what I’m going through. It’s exactly that – something passing through you or you through it – so just let it go. It’s often just stuff, junk, spiritual debris, flak from all this spiritual warfare going on. Don’t take it too seriously. Get your mind off of it, move on despite it.

If it has any merit it’ll stick around and make itself apparent in a positive sense, even if it’s a sense of warning of some sort.

Noticing the Darkness of the Mist

I went through this super funk one morning; demotivated, a serious “why bother” kind of feeling, but it didn’t feel like it was me. It’s not at all my nature and I very rarely get that down anymore, if at all. I analyzed it a bit and it went nowhere so it appeared to be more of a distraction than something to sit up and take notice of. So I just got busy feeding and playing a bit with my sweet pup, made some kick ass tea, hung out a bit and finally started touring the net. I decided to watch some fun videos, interesting clips on various topics, and just relaxed.

Why You Can No Longer Trust The USDA Organic Label

WakingTimes  September 19 2013

“USDA Organic” is simply a marketing term those who take government ethics at face value. The goal has always been to increase agricultural sales, not promote organic farming. The public seems to confide in this label through sheer ignorance. The National Organic Program (NOP) which governs the “USDA Organic” label has no interest in organic farming, improving soil, quality of the produce, or factors that pollute the environment. In another blow to their organics program that will further downgrade consumer confidence, the USDA announced this week that the agency has changed the process for exempting otherwise prohibited substances (such as synthetics) in food that carries the “organic or “made with organic” label. This decision makes it easier to continue use of artificial ingredients and substances, undermining integrity of the organic label.

According to the National Organic Program, the organic label indicates that the food or other agricultural product has been produced through methods that integrate cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity. Synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, and genetic engineering may not be used…until now.

Under the federal organic law and prior to the announcement, there was a controlled process for allowing the use of substances not normally permitted in organic production because of extenuating circumstances. Under the Organic Foods Production Act 7 USC 6517 (e) Sunset Provision, “No exemption or prohibition contained in the National List shall be valid unless the National Organic Standards Board has reviewed such exemption or prohibition as provided in this section within 5 years of such exemption or prohibition being adopted or reviewed and the Secretary has renewed such exemption or prohibition.”

Under the law, these exemptions are authorized for a five-year period, in order to encourage the development of natural (or organic) alternatives. The exemptions are required by law to expire, known as “sunset,” unless they were reinstated by a two-thirds “decisive” majority vote of the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) and include a public review. While this is the law, USDA has said it will no longer operate the program in this manner.

USDA organics has been hijacked by big agriculture and their food scientists for some time. Senior food scientist Toby McDonald insists that the only way to protect the population is through current and modified sterilization techniques that will make food safe for all. “Current and modified practices including irradiation and pasteurization are extremely effective in reducing harmful bacteria and pathogens in the food supply,” he proclaimed. MacDonald says that as food demand reaches its climax, proper sterilization will be necessary at all levels.” An increase of 50 percent in food demand by 2030 will require more funding into food monitoring infrastructures so that all food with the potential to produce outbreaks can be properly sterilized to prevent those outbreaks,” he added.

Heart, Light Mind, And Body In Creative Intention

MultidimensionalHumanity  September 22 2013

The multidimensional consciousness of humanity is intentional.   We have the ability to create, manifest, and emanate intention through our Divine infinite consciousness.  It is within our heart consciousness that the experience and expression of creative intention occurs through our incarnate physical body as a receiver/transducer/transmitter of frequencies of information.

Thus, a heart-centered unity consciousness enables the frequencies of intention to organize as experience in the physical dimensions.  All intentional creativity originates and manifests from heart consciousness.  The heart is our infinite point of access for our multidimensional humanity to express Divine infinite consciousness through the body.  We will describe how our heart consciousness uses both the mind and body in intention.

Intention in the Spiritual, Esoteric, and Metaphysical Traditions
