James Comey’s Plan To Take Down Trump Just Backfired

comeyFormer FBI Director James Comey is back in the news.

But it’s for all the wrong reasons.

And now he may end up on the inside of a jail cell.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked by a reporter about former Chief Strategist Steve Bannon’s comment that firing Comey was the biggest mistake in modern political history.

Huckabee Sanders swatted that away by noting Comey deserved to be fired and the false testimony he gave in front of Congress justified that decision.

She also noted Comey admitted to illegal leaks that kick-started the appointment of a special counsel in the Russia probe.

Not only did Huckabee Sanders state Comey lied to Congress and illegally leaked information, she insinuated he may be prosecuted for it.

Fox News reported:

“Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, argued during the daily press briefing that Comey’s actions as FBI director “were improper and likely could have been illegal.”

Asked if President Trump wants the Department of Justice to prosecute Comey, Sanders said that’s “something they should certainly look at.”

Sanders said the former FBI director “politicized an investigation by signaling he would exonerate Hillary Clinton before he ever interviewed her or other key witnesses.”

That’s in reference to new allegations Comey drafted an “exoneration statement” for Clinton weeks before interviewing her during the investigation into her email server.

Sanders also said Comey, “by his own admission, leaked privileged government information.”

That’s in apparent reference to Comey’s acknowledgment during a June congressional hearing that he authorized the leaking of a memo about his conversations with the president to the New York Times.

“I think if there’s ever a moment where we feel someone’s broken the law, particularly if they’re the head of the FBI, then I think that’s something [that] certainly should be looked at,” she said.”

During his testimony, Comey lied about not knowing the parameters of Attorney General Jeff Sessions recusal from the Russia investigation.

Comey was on an email sent by Sessions’ Chief of Staff laying out the ground rules of his recusal.

The former FBI Director also admitted to leaking his memos about his conversations with Trump to a friend so that they could be passed along to the media.

Comey’s intention was to force the appointment of a special prosecutor – which did happen when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller to conduct his witch hunt against Trump.

Comey may very well have admitted to multiple crimes during his Congressional testimony.

If the swamp weren’t trying to stage a coup against Trump, a functioning justice system would hold Comey accountable.
