Visitation With A Lynx

CatLynxWe are nestled right up against the San Gabriel Mountains, and a lot of animals come down to our canyon area to see what they can find to eat.  Today we were sitting in the front yard, enjoying the sunshine and the birds that come to eat the seeds;  and up the road, comes this magnificent Lynx, very slowly and quietly walking up the hill…

Wow!  Wowie-zowie!  I got up slowly and began to follow him at a respectful distance.  I was shoeless, but I didn’t care … I wanted more of this gorgeous creature!  He turned into a neighbors alleyway, and I went around the hill to the back of the house so I could see him from where he had turned in.

CatLynx2And there he was … sitting there … just quietly looking at me…

He had chosen a background that disguised him and blended perfectly with his tan coat.  I did not approach, I simply stood at a distance in awe, admiring him and letting him how gorgeous and beautiful and noble and magnificent he was.  He would kind of blink, and look away, and then look back at me, like he had gotten my message and seemed pleased that he was being properly treated, admired and honored…

We stared at each other for quite a while, then he got up and sauntered over to a metal gate and squirmed underneath a small opening, returning to the wilds of San Gabriel mountain range where he likely has his den.

Sigh!  Made my day….!

Warmest regards,
Constance Demby
