Enlightened and Enlightenment

lightJennifer Hoffman – I always celebrate my clients’ enlightenment and then have to explain that this is the first step in the process because while the light has been shed on their issues, they have completed the first step and are now enlightened. Completing their healing work to becoming whole and then congruent are the other steps in the process. We may believe that seeking enlightenment is our purpose, mission, and final act, but it is not. Being enlightened (turning on the light) is the beginning of the journey of enlightenment because turning the light on in the room is the first step, then we have to go into the room to finish what we started.

There is nothing about our soul mission or life purpose that is ‘easy’, that is to say, that doesn’t require any effort or participation on our part. While some teachers may misguide their audiences into believing that they can ‘wish to make things happen’ that is simply untrue. Setting intention (not wishes) is the first step in any process of enlightenment or transformation. So we do have to engage in our own processes. By the same token, enlightenment is not the end of the journey, it is just the beginning.

We are enlightened when we shine a light on something and come to a new awareness. That is the first step in the process. Think of what happens when you need to enter a dark room. What is the first thing you do? You turn on the light. Then you enter the room to do what you were going to do in there. The same is true in our own lives. Enlightenment just turns the light on. Then it’s time for us to get to work.

It is not an ‘easy’ process but it can be ease-y, it can be accomplished with grace and ease when we are prepared, with strong intentions and good boundaries, to establish the energy flows in our lives and to start the process of transformation. We must be prepared to surrender (to stop resisting) which means to allow ourselves to receive what we want. But it doesn’t happen magically or without our active, intentional participation.

Set your intention for enlightenment and be prepared to have the lights turned on high beams, then you’ll know what to do next because that path is illuminated for you. Just remember that if you’re planning to enter a dark room you haven’t visited in a while, turning on the light might reveal things you are not too pleased with.

We have to turn on the light first, then we decide what we’re going to do about the density. Stay strong, have big intentions and good boundaries so you manage the energy flows into and out of your life. It’s a journey, not a destination, and each step is important. And as you move from enlightenment to being enlightened  celebrate your victories and be open to receiving miracles.
