You can boost your faith by building your relationships and increasing the bond that you have with others, including the Creator. Joining a community of fellow believers that hold similar beliefs and values to your own, such as a Christian church if that is your personal preference, is a powerful way to grow your faith. Not only will this act help you to learn more about the practices of your faith, it will also help you to develop a system of personal support to encourage you when negative thoughts and temptations cross your mind.

There are, however, other faiths and belief systems that can help you to strengthen your spirit, and a number of different religious institutions that can help you learn more about a particular belief while helping you to connect with others.

Strengthen Your Body

Many times, our negative beliefs about ourselves stem from habits that can really take a toll on our physical bodies and effect our overall health and well-being. Whether you need to lose a few pounds, or, have fallen into a more destructive pattern, such as an addiction, making an effort to live a healthier lifestyle, get in shape and break free from practices that harm you will improve both your attitude and physical appearance.

Cut back on unhealthy foods and empty calories and fill up on nutritious, natural foods as part of a healthy, balanced diet. While you might join a gym to help you firm and tone your muscles, even simple exercises such as walking can help you to burn calories and condition your body.

According to the results of research on beneficial habits and positive life outcomes, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, exercises such as yoga, tai-chi and even meditation can strengthen your self-control and make it easier to achieve goals such as losing weight and breaking bad habits.

There are a number of theories about why meditation and other practices work, but many believe it is because they strengthen the connections between the mind, body and spirit. Not only does this help practitioners strengthen their resolve and willpower, it helps users relax more easily, become more resistant to the effects of stress and more able to resist the temptation to slide back into old habits.
