Lionel – Normal, sure. I trust that normalcy’s returning. Whatever that even means. May you enjoy a reemergence into society. It seems like only yesterday (December 2019 to be exact) when SARS-CoV-2 was first mentioned, uttered and insinuated from this place nobody heard of (yet): Wuhan.

The sub-provincial city in Central China and now the capital of Hubei Province. Home of the WuFlu, China Flu and a host of other references that were immediately labeled in Pavlovian obeisance Sinophobic and racist for reasons I have yet to decipher.

But it’s tradition. We’ve long named and labeled viruses, diseases and nasty stuff after its site of origin. Memory lane, anyone? Guinea Worm, West Nile Virus, German Measles, Ross River Fever, Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever (not to be confused with the Omsk Hemorrhagic Fever), Lyme Disease and (ready?) the Spanish Flu, even though neither Spain nor the Spanish had anything to do with it. And who can forget Zika Fever? (Lo siento, Zikans.) Or the classic Legionnaire’s Disease. (Ditto, American Legion.) It’s all absurd.

So, why?

You knew this. And know this. It’s axiomatic. It’s part of the new parlor (versus the dubious Parler) game of feigned and exaggerated hypersensitivity encouraging the charging and/or alleging of anything that even approximates today’s definition of “racist,” a term denoting anything in the least that can be construed or interpreted as directing negativity or heaping invectives at or against anyone or anything for any reason even if race per se isn’t even involved or included.

But wait, there’s more

But the real reason for this incredibly breathless hypersensitivity: To avoid appearing the least bit Sinophobic. Allegedly. And why’s that? Because China owns Hollywood, sports, the media, Washington, the government. Name it. China owns everything. And they will not be besmirched or impugned in the slightest. Not bad for a country that was virtually prehistoric in 1949 before the Revolution.

Fauci the fraud and Vax Populi handmaiden, the CDC, bent over backwards to avoid the mere hint of any complicity or responsibility on the part of China. Gain of function, pathogen weaponization . . . QUIET! Lest you feel the wrath of Xi Jinping and his merry band of social media myrmidons.

Just ask LeBron James, that quisling manchild who will never even approximate the greatness of Michael Jordan. China was and is off limits.

Unlike Russia which is blamed and connected to and with everything. Russia, Russia, Russia. Remember the collusion myth? Have you ever heard anyone to this date even suggest what the connection was precisely? What Russian operatives did to “steal” the 2016 election. Nope, not a word.

And speaking of elections

Allege or insinuate in the slightest that the 2020 election was stolen, purloined, snatched, bamboozled or lifted and you can say nighty-night to any social media platform. After all, that’s been thoroughly reviewed by our scrupulous judiciary. And they never make a mistake.

Besides, who are you to question a branch of government, you pissant knave! Imagine telling Thurgood Marshall in 1954, “How dare you question Plessy! It’s settled law and if you dare even mention it in public again we will ban you from all public platforms of expression!” Think about it.

Maskholes and Karens

Where have these people gone? What will they do now that for all practical purposes the death grip of world lockdown has been rescinded? Oh, they’re still there. You can see them, masked mightily along with their kids. Kids! And whether they’re vaxxed or not is irrelevant.

The mask is their security blanket. Their amulet, talisman, crucifix. Their symbol of divine subjugation. Their commitment to acceptable tyranny. They’re in for the duration. WE CAN DO THIS! (What exactly, we’re not sure.)

And the single most insane example of Covidmania and mysophobic lunacy is driving alone wearing a face diaper. Hands down, bar none. Behold my imprisonment. As I laud my master.

And now the anti-vaxxer disclaimer.

This is mandatory, so here goes. I am not anti-vaccination or anti-immunization or anti-antibodies. I am the antipodal antonym of such. Vaccines are a godsend: just not every one. Hypodermic syringes have saved lives but I want to know what’s in them, thank you very much.

Trust the science? Whose science? History is replete with occasion after occasion of medical science getting it wrong. Doctors endorsing cigarettes, icepick lobotomies (ask Rosemary Kennedy, lobotomized at 23), Thalidomide, Vioxx.

And science rejected Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis, who in 1850 was uniformly and resoundingly laughed at by the medical community for suggesting that . . . wait for it . . . it might be a good idea for surgeons and delivering physicians to wash their hands.
