Love & Laughter

Stuart Wilde February 25 2013

Laughter is a form of love and a very powerful medicine.

We find reasons to laugh many times a day. Sometimes I tell my friends funny stories and soon the whole room is filled with the warmth of the fire and the shimmer of shared laughter.

Or, I crack a joke with the barman at the local Dog & Duck, we chuckle and make a circle of light with our feelings  which others are drawn into. And lilting laughter brightens the eyes of the curly haired lady in the chemist with the good soul, as I pretend to write myself a prescription for some good stuff with my finger on the counter. We share a jolly moment and she passes the warmth onto the next person that enters with her jovial banter that breathes life force into their being.

A healer friend of mine was recently healing a young child and gave him tools to fight off the night terrors. She told him to laugh and shake a homemade maraca, as the ghouls hate the sound the maraca makes. The healer is clever because the sweet peal of a child’s giggles scares off dark forces. It’s the fear and tears that feed them.

The dark can’t penetrate the levels of light produced by genuinely joyful laughter. It is locked out, the heat spreads like purple and gold fingers of flame that strengthen the soul and awaken the heart.

  1. Thank you! This is really a good reminder!
I have read sometimes jokes for 2 hours – if I felt emotionally stressed- always worked- lol!
I adore jokes. One of the things I think is producing a lack of laughter and fun- in a city- normally- older couples live together and no little ones around- or at least young ones. Children are laughing 10 times at least – what adults do!
I am retired now- unfortunately ! but when I was in business – often people came into the shop and said “this is the only place where I see laughing”
Sometimes they dropped in to have a good laugh.
Perhaps I should make it a profession – now – lol.
to bring laughter into the city
    Love Joanna

    1. Thanks for commenting, Joanna. I know what you mean about laughter lifting the spirits better than almost anything else can. It is truly our body’s anti-depression solution. 🙂 Hugs, G
