James Madison’s Insights on Government Power

“Take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties.” — James Madison

James Madison's Insights on Government PowerJohn W. Whitehead – James Madison, often referred to as the “Father of the Constitution,” once predicted that the Bill of Rights would become mere “parchment barrier,” words on paper ignored by successive generations of Americans.

How right he was.

Although Madison initially felt that the inclusion of a bill of rights in the originally ratified Constitution was unnecessary to its success, Thomas Jefferson persuaded him that “a bill of rights is what the people are entitled to against every government on earth, general or particular, & what no just government should refuse, or rest on inferences.” Continue reading

A Ruling Class that Shamelessly Shames Good Americans

A Ruling Class that Shamelessly Shames Good AmericansJ.B. Shurk – America is not meant to have a “ruling class.” The Declaration of Independence takes direct aim at an entrenched aristocracy by stating a “self-evident” truth that “all men are created equal.” People, of course, are not naturally equal. They are blessed with individual talents and carry through their lives individual burdens, but no person is born with a divine right to rule over others.

On the contrary, through God’s gifts of life and liberty to each one of us, we are capable of governing ourselves. That is harder than it sounds because self-government is a responsibility that requires work and vigilance. Continue reading

The Union Is Not a Suicide Pact

The Union Is Not a Suicide PactJ. B. Shurk – Comey: I am the law.  Fauci: I am the science.  Deep State: We are your democracy.  Federal Reserve: We are your freedom.  This kind of authoritarianism does not belong in America.  When tyrants pervert the law, distort scientific inquiry, abuse their power, and pilfer middle-class savings, they are American in name only.

Now that Mr. Durham has gotten around to confirming what most of us have known for nearly seven years — namely, that Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Brennan, Jim Comey, James Clapper, and the State-aligned press corps doing the Intelligence Community’s bidding all conspired to push the fraudulent Russian collusion narrative in an attempt to take down a duly elected president — there are quite a few people calling for the FBI to be either reformed or disbanded.  Surprisingly, some of these people now calling for the FBI’s demolition are even elected officials. The ongoing battle between self-government and global government

COVID Communism Has Been ContagiousJ. B. Shurk – Now that we’re approaching the three-year anniversary of COVID-1984’s global demolition (or “Great Reset” in World Economic Forum parlance), reality looks very different from what many people once perceived it to be.  Raise your hand if you thought “free” nations would declare the authority to close millions of small businesses until they went bankrupt and folded.  Or whether never-before-used, experimental cocktails of mRNA “vaccine” would be coercively injected into citizens.

Did you think governments would conspire to cover up “vaccine”-related injuries and deaths?  Did you expect that the Canadian government would take the unprecedented steps of invoking the Emergencies Act and seizing the private bank accounts of Freedom Convoy protesters in order to intimidate peaceful Canadians and quell dissent?

It Is Duty To Resist Tyranny And Unconstitutional Government

“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” — Abraham Lincoln

It Is Duty To Resist Tyranny And Unconstitutional GovernmentJohn & Nisha Whitehead – It’s easy to become discouraged about the state of our nation.

We’re drowning under the weight of too much debt, too many wars, too much power in the hands of a centralized government, too many militarized police, too many laws, too many lobbyists, and generally too much bad news.

It’s harder to believe that change is possible, that the system can be reformed, that politicians can be principled, that courts can be just, that good can overcome evil, and that freedom will prevail. Continue reading
