When and Why Golden Geese Take Wing

tax ratesClarice Feldman – My friend Lynn Chu has boiled down the basis for a just, prosperous society:

“It is very easy to spend other people’s money, thus eliminating all of the vital discrimination about the devils in the details which are knowable only at the level of the individual. This is the main justification for the protection of individual liberty against autocracy other than the clarity of the moral imperative of human rights as the privileges and immunities of the individual in society.”

When Great Britain turned over Hong Kong at the expiration of its lease, the Chinese government promised to leave its democratic institutions and law alone. Bit by bit, that promise has been eroded until  recently China pressured the local authorities to agree to an extradition treaty that would allow them to extradite from the former colony and try in China anyone, even someone merely transiting through its airport. Can California Be Saved, or Is It Too Late?

California
Reagan Presidential Library, Simi, California

Patricia McCarthyMark Levin appeared at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California on Saturday night.  The event was a celebration of his new, bestselling book, Unfreedom of the Press.  It was a glorious evening.  The auditorium was packed with several thousand fans with an overflow crowd in another room.

Levin delivered not a speech but a conversation.  John Heubusch, the director of the Reagan Library introduced Levin then the two of them sat down.  Heubusch asked  questions and Levin answered in his usual inimitable fashion.  The crowd loved it.

But as we were all sitting in that spectacular library in California, the state of our state was the initial topic of discussion.  How did this state, once the envy of all others, become the pathetic, indebted loser state it is today?

The answer is simple, single-party Democratic rule.

Defining the Issues

socialismLinda Gommel – Sloppy thinking, resulting in sloppy speech and muddled ideas, pervades the right’s attempts to communicate clearly.  The sloppiness of our conservative commentariat has resulted in severe damage to our side in the battle of ideas being fought in the ongoing war for our culture.

An example: for years, even legendary communicator Rush Limbaugh and others allowed the left to get by with conflating terms like “immigration” and “illegal immigration”, and I would find myself shouting at the radio as we on the Right were smeared as haters, bigots, and anti-immigrant hypernationalists.  Only in very recent times has our side finally clarified the difference and refuted the labels, but the damage is done.

The same sort of thing has happened with the use of the term “socialism.”  That word is bandied about with little regard for its true meaning.  Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are socialists, it is said, as they push the Green New Deal.  The entire Left is sidling up to socialism and turning away from capitalism, appealing to a base of youth victimized by the failure to educate and by the success of leftist indoctrination.  The word is intentionally left fuzzy and ill-defined in order to cause confusion. California Nightmare: Over Half Of The People Living In The State Wish They Could Leave

California
Ballot harvesting insures California’s financial ruin continues as those who can afford to do so flee..

Michael Snyder – This just shows what can happen when you let crazy people run a state for several decades.  In the 1960s and 1970s, the possibility of moving to the west coast was “the California dream” for millions of young Americans, but now “the California dream” has turned into “the California nightmare”.

According to a brand new survey, 53 percent of those living in California are considering leaving the state, and there are certainly lots of reasons to hit the road and never look back.  The cities are massively overcrowded, California has the worst traffic in the western world, drug use and illegal immigration both fuel an astounding amount of crime, tax rates are horrendous and many of the state politicians appear to literally be insane.  And on top of all that, let us not forget the earthquakes, wildfires and landslides that are constantly making headlines all over the world.  Last year was the worst year for wildfires in California history, and these days it seems like the state is hit by some new crisis every few weeks.
