The Nephilim

The NephilimBrooks Agnew – There is much mystery surrounding the Nephilim. Most of the information about them comes from Genesis 6:4: “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.”

Almost everything about this verse is difficult to understand. Is Nephilim a specific technical term, or does it mean what the word means? And what the word means is uncertain. It seems to have something to do with falling—possibly “fallen ones” or “ones who cause others to fall.” Also, who are the “sons of God”?

Are they human or some kind of angelic beings? If the sons of God are angelic, then is the angelic/human cross what accounts for the greatness of the Nephilim?

Regardless of the answers to these questions, we would assume that all of the Nephilim alive at the time of Noah perished in the flood. However, Genesis 6:4 also seems to indicate that the Nephilim reappeared after the flood: they were “on the earth in those days—and also afterward”—that is, after the flood.

In Moses’ day, the spies brought back a report about the Promised Land. All the spies agreed that the land was good with bounty to offer; however, ten of the spies also were fearful that Israel could not take the land because of the people living in it: “The land we explored devours those living in it.

All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them” (Numbers 13:32–33). Here the Nephilim are described as the descendants of Anak and are associated with men of great size.

This is similar to Genesis 6:4 where they are associated with “heroes of old, men of renown.” In each case, they would seem to be formidable opponents, especially in the kind of hand-to-hand combat that would have been involved in taking the Promised Land.

The War in Heaven

In the New Testament of the Christian Bible, the Book of Revelation describes a past war in heaven between angels led by the Archangel Michael against those led by “the dragon”, identified as the devil or Satan, who was defeated and thrown down to the earth.[1][2] Revelation’s war in Heaven is related to the idea of fallen angels, and possible parallels have been proposed in the Hebrew Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Rev 12:7 7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

With our limited knowledge of the word Nephilim, it appears the Nephilim were gigantic, mysterious warriors of uncertain DNA (to use a modern term). To the people who observed them, they seemed to be unnatural. Even today we have “giants” among us—the average NBA or NFL player is freakishly gigantic compared to most of us. This does not mean there is a race of human/angel hybrids who are secretly in our midst.

I don’t think that war ever ended. They have come here to fight us.

In the War Scroll, according to Menahem Mansoor, the angels of light, who are identified with Michael, the prince of light, will fight in heaven against the angels of darkness, who are identified with Belial, while the Sons of Light fight the Sons of Darkness on earth, and during the last of the seven battles described in the scroll will come and help the Sons of Light win the final victory.

James R. Davila speaks of Song 5 of the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice as describing “an eschatological war in heaven similar to that found in 11Q13 and to traditions about the archangel Michael in the War Rule and the book of Revelation”.[24] He suggests that Melchizedek, who is mentioned both in the Melchizedek document and the fifth song of the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice, may be a divine warrior who is involved in the conflict with the archangel Michael in the futurist sense.

That the Melchizedek document (11Q13) concerns a war in heaven is denied by Fred L. Horton, who remarks that “there is no hint in the extant portion of the 11Q Melchizedek of a revolt of heavenly beings against the heavenly council, and the only dissenting spirit is the traditional Belial”;[25] the view of Davila, however, is that the document originally was about an eschatological war in heaven, with Melchizedek as angelic high priest and military redeemer.

The Watchers

A Watcher[a] is a type of biblical angel. The word occurs in both plural and singular forms in the Book of Daniel (2nd century BC), where reference is made to the holiness of the beings. The apocryphal Books of Enoch (2nd–1st centuries BC) refer to both good and bad Watchers, with a primary focus on the rebellious ones.

Daniel 4:13 17 23

And because the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, ‘Chop down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and let him be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven periods of time pass over him,’ this is the interpretation, O king: It is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king, that you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and you shall be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom He will.

In the Book of Enoch, the watchers (Aramaic עִירִין, iyrin) are angels dispatched to Earth to watch over the humans. They soon begin to lust for human women and, at the prodding of their leader Samyaza, defect to illicitly instruct humanity and procreate among them. The offspring of these unions are the Nephilim, savage giants who pillage the earth and endanger humanity.

Samyaza and his associates further taught their human charges arts and technologies such as weaponry, cosmetics, mirrors, sorcery, and other techniques that would otherwise be discovered gradually over time by humans, not foisted upon them all at once.

Eventually God allows a Great Flood to rid the earth of the Nephilim, but first sends Uriel to warn Noah so as not to eradicate the human race. The watchers are bound “in the valleys of the Earth” until Judgment Day (Jude verse 6 says, “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”).

It seems that the Nephilim, at least in the time of Moses and Joshua, were simply descendants of Anak who were extremely large and fearsome. If so, then it is possible that there are descendants of them today, just as today there could be distant descendants of Moabites, Amalekites, Hittites, and Babylonians.

I have no argument with this. In Volume One of The Ark of Millions of Years, we traced the roots of the Nephilim, and it turns out this is true, but it is also true that there were other Nephilim who were fallen angels.

Angels are special beings of immense power and knowledge who have submitted their will to God of their own free will and choice. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Well it probably is, except when compared to the greatest treasure and heaven for a spirit. You see mortal life is the bonding of a physical body in the third dimension to a fifth dimensional spirit. That’s a lot to unpack, so let’s unpack that. We’re talking about mortal life. You are given freedom, the ability to create life in our own image, which is a god-like privilege. Demons do not get this privilege. Angels do not get this privilege.

A mortal’s view of the universe is very limited through five senses. That is a challenge, and it is also a great treasure. How? Mystery. Discovery. A spirit needs to grow and become complete. The only way this can occur is through mortal life. Pain, failure, and horizons are the best training grounds in the universe. Spirits don’t get this and neither do angels.

That’s how angels fall. You see, when an angel begins to envy or begins to dwell upon or act upon its own desires, it falls from glory. Glory. That is another concept I’ll explain in a moment. The angels who were sent to earth to nurture humans, so we wouldn’t extinct ourselves, became frustrated with the blessings we were receiving by getting to experience passion and love and dreaming and wondering—things spirits don’t get to do. They began to mess with the program.

They taught us war and they taught us perversions of all manner. But the greatest deception the fallen angels, or Nephilim did, was to create religions. All the religions of the earth for all time were created by the Nephilim. They sometimes had to appear as beings of light to get this done, but the craft was genius.

Once a religion was created, and followers were inspired to join and swear their fealty, they were tasked to hate all other religions. Billions of mortals over the millennia were killed in the name of god. Then the religion of money was created, and the bankers became priests, and the banks became temples. Visit any town you wish in any land. The two most beautiful buildings are the churches and the banks.

When you enter a bank, it’s like ‘shhhh’ there’s money here. Don’t stare at that vault. Whisper and be courteous and know that I am god.

Now the story goes that the fallen angels are immortal and can’t be killed. I can tell you that they can be killed. There are weapons that can destroy them, and many have been destroyed. They can be overpowered and imprisoned in chains or sealed up in tombs. Once there 200 of these beings who came to Earth.

Their age is timeless, and to them we breed like rabbits. Our 100 year lifespan, if you care for yourself well enough, is but a few minutes to a being of that ability. They simply outlive all their enemies. Today their enemy is formidable, but in a few decades he will be bent over pushing a walker and will be of no consequence. Most mortals can be bought or bribed anyway.

Over the millennia, the 200 have been whittled down to only a few, as they cannot go to battle with us in the open. We are too numerous and our weapons are now very powerful. Instead the few who are left use bloodlines to control the world. They think they can rule over this world, but they find that to be very difficult, especially if we can alert the world to their existence and purpose.

This very day we hear their words and their craft blared at us from the fake stream news. Most people don’t hear anything but that blaring call to arms against the family or kids or god. But there are pockets of light also. And that light has been shining in the darkness, and people can see it. And they are drawn to it, and they wake up.

Now let me address the concept of glory. I believe this is the true currency in the universe. Forget about dollars for a little bit, although the general principle is the same. Glory is the conscious energy that is you and you alone. You can hoard it to yourself, and it will wither and die. You can give to another, and that other soul will be richer because of it. If more than one person glorify another person, that other person can become very powerful and very wealthy in all manner of things.

God commands us to give all our glory to Him. If we all did that, he would be powerful enough to provide everything we need. Of course, we don’t’ so He doesn’t. We spend our glory on houses and cars and our bodies and tinkling bobbles and sweet sounds. That’s okay too, I suppose. Those things would not exist if we did not glorify them.

I do think that we should be more mindful of our glory. We are tricked out of it quite often, but when we choose to glorify darkness, then darkness we shall become. And when the light shines, we won’t see it.
