Trump on Robert Mueller: “We’ve Wasted Enough Time on This Witch Hunt”

trumpShawn – In an extraordinary interview with Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace this weekend, President Trump said that while he was happy to have answered Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s written questions, it was unlikely that he would follow them up with a sit-down interview.

“We’ve wasted enough time on this witch hunt and the answer is, probably, that we’re finished,” Trump said. “We gave very, very complete answers to a lot of questions that I shouldn’t have even been asked, and I think that should solve the problem. I hope it solves the problem. If it doesn’t, you know, I’ll be told and we’ll make a decision at that time. But probably this is the end.”

Trump went on to say that while he wouldn’t encourage Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker to hinder the special counsel’s probe in any way, he also would not interfere if Whitaker chose to curtail the investigation.

“Look, it’s going to be up to him,” Trump said. “I think he’s very well aware politically. I think he’s astute politically. He’s a very smart person. A very respected person. He’s going to do what’s right. I really believe he’s going to do what’s right.”

In addition to the Mueller investigation, Trump also discussed the results of the midterm elections, which he said were being wrongly reported as a referendum on his presidency. He noted that the Republican candidates for whom he campaigned personally mostly came out the victors in their respective races.

“I won against President Obama and Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama in a great state called Georgia for the governor,” Trump said. “And it was all stacked against Brian [Kemp], and I was the one that went for Brian, and Brian won.

“Look at Florida,” Trump continued. “I went down to Florida. Rick Scott won, and he won by a lot.  I don’t know what happened to all those votes that disappeared at the very end.  And if I didn’t put a spotlight on that election before it got down to the 12,500 votes, he would have lost that election, OK?  In my opinion he would have lost.  They would have taken that election away from him. Rick Scott won Florida.”

Overall, though there have been reports that the president has been in a foul mood since the election, Trump appeared to be in great spirits as he optimistically moves into the second half of his presidency. It will not be an easy road for him, dealing with a Democrat majority in the House, but every indication is that Trump thrives on a good fight. With Pelosi & Friends more than willing to give him one, we could very well see Trump stronger than ever heading into the 2020 re-election campaign.
